Common names: Pongam Tree, Indian Beech Tree, Honge Tree, Panigrahi, Karanja

 

Medium to large size tree can be seen growing in Brisbane.

Pea flowers in inflorescences and large light-green deltoid (heart shaped) leaves.

Deciduous.

It is native to humid and sub-tropic environments (Asia, West Africa, Australasia...), It grows in the littoral zone behind beaches.

They say it is common along waterways or seashores, with its roots in fresh or saltwater.

In Australia normally (!) flowers November-December
