Hike in Mount Mathieson trail. Spicers Gap in Main Range National Park, Australia
Note the path on the left and view to Mt Mitchell peak on the right.
This rough trail commences opposite the Pioneer picnic area at Spicers Gap. The walk features a variety of vegetation, woodland, rainforest, grass trees and meadow, and provides opportunities for views north of Cunninghams Gap. From this point the track takes you from Mt Matheson back to Spicer's Gap Road and features a memorable razor ridge, that requires a bit of a scramble.
This track was built by volunteers in 1986 from the National Parks Assoc of Qld. The mountain is named after the chief commissioner of railways 1880's to 1912.
