Honey Bees taking over nest box
This nest box at a NE TX farm got a late swarm of Honey Bees inside the box
and they were covering the whole box in late October..
This late March 2009 photo shows how mild of a winter we had because
normally it takes about 30 pounds of honey to winter over a large hive of
bees. This nest box has a 5x5 bottom and appears to be about 8" tall on the
inside of the box. Honey Bees were able to work flowers nearly all winter
this year in this area.
