Bearberry: Turquoise Lake: Leadville, Colorado (CO)

The lake is surrounded by a forest of lodgepole pines. A few species of plant grow beneath the trees, among them this bearberry. The botanical name, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi, translates as "bear berry bear berry", first in Greek and then in Latin. The Native American name is "kinnickkinnick."
