Pix Theater, Hollywood

    Newer Older

I was mystified when I found this among slides I'd taken in the 1980's; I couldn't remember at all where this was. The stars embedded in the sidewalk tell us it was on Hollywood Blvd (I was certain it wasn't Vine St), where there certainly isn't a Pix Theater today. The Cinema Treasures site didn't identify a "Pix Theater" in Los Angeles, but with a little bit of Googling I learned that this theater is what we now know as the "Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theater." This view is from January, 1983.

Shocking! The museum of Neon Art in downtown LA has one of the two "Pix" from the marquee from this theater. It used to be the Fox, but a little redesign to the sign and it went from Fox to Pix.
