Robot light switch
Taken for Active Assignment Weekly.
Since I spent my weekend visiting a crowded dog show and a crowded science museum, I didn't really have a lot of good minimalist opportunities. I was going to give up on the assignment, when I was coming downstairs and thought "hey, wait a second..."
This little robot was the first piece of "art" I put up in our house when we moved in, before any of our stuff had arrived. The place was barren (very minimalist!) and I *hated* the bland rental beige everywhere, but especially in the stairwell. This little guy came from ikea, and was my stand against the extreme boringness of my empty rental house. So for my minimalist photo, I'm giving you a shot of my antiminimalist wall art. I guess you can see why this assignment might have been hard for me. ;)
As one might expect from that story, I had to clone out a bit of other space-invaders themed artwork in the corner of the frame. I also shifted the colour to be a bit pink (the wall is, of course, rental beige) because I thought it was both a little more cheerful and a little more surreal. Beyond that, lots of fiddling to make the lighting on the wall look more even than it actually is. (You can see in my other submission what it looks like when I kick it the other way.)
