West Marin Cows

Tomales Bay in the background. There are lots of signs about potentially aggressive cows, probably because of a trampling incident a few years ago. It notes that people with dogs should be especially careful.

We didn't have any problems, until we were passing a curious calf on the way back. I'd managed to keep Laika quiet, but then couldn't resist breaking into a little jog (sometimes cows will follow if you start running or ride a bike past them...maybe a herd instinct?) This excited Laika, so she barked, and then momma cow got to her feet more quickly than I would have imagined possible, and glared at us.

I stopped, got the dog quiet with a handful of treats, and we were fine, but it was monumentally stupid on my part to not realize that the jogging would also excite the dog!
