Amidst the hustle and bustle that dominates Washington DC, we found this section of Georgetown. The row houses line the edge of the C & O Canal, a nineteenth century shipping canal that runs 185 miles to connect the Potomac River in DC with the Ohio River in Western Pennsylvania. The C & O Canal is a National Historic Park.
On this day, the National Park Service was in the process of dry-docking the boat (which still runs for historic tours) but they let us wander the canal and watch them work. As we watched, we took some time to reflect on the amount of history that these buildings must have seen.
