Κώστας Καραμανλής - Costas Karamanlis. Prime minister of Greece
In the final run up to Greek national elections prime minister Costas Karamanlis addressed New Democracy party supporters in Greece's second city, Thessaloniki in a move aimed at shoring up support in the normally conservative voting city.
Karamanlis has been campaigning hard to claw back the 7% gap that separates his party from the socialist opposition PASOK party led by Giorgos Papandreou.
Although the ruling conservatives banned the publication of opinion poll results last weeks leaked reports in the foreign press and on the internet show that PASOK is set to win in Sunday's elections, however, doubts still remain on whether Papandreou will have a clear majority in parliament or will have to form a coalition with one of Greece's smaller parties.
