Perseids Meteorite

    Newer Older

Taken south of Olathe, KS. We had a great, clear night, though pretty windy (as is normal for Kansas).

I processed this rather dark, please feel free to let me know if you feel it's too dark.

I was too tired to wait for this and shoot, Tom! From where I am, I was also struggling to look for a vantage point with lesser light pollution...Singapore has too much street lights and other light sources coming from those tall buildings... Well done, buddy! Instant fave!

Nice, Tom. I like the dark, myself, but I've also got a nice big, calibrated monitor. I completely missed this shower.
Seen in my contacts' photos. ( ?² )

Cracking stuff Tom - very skyward shots at the moment which is a nice theme!

Thanks, Sean. I was actually shooting for star trails (30 sec exposures), and sooc is lighter. Perhaps I will upload a lighter version, but rememeber I was not at 12,500' at the top of a volcano in Hawaii, in paradise, I might add :) I had some light pollution too. I can post sooc and show you - it appears you have a bit of knowledge about this :)
      Thanks Urban as always :D
      Thank you, Steffen
Thanks, Dustin. I have a notebook and the screen is bright, all I've calibrated it with is software, no hardware.

Rik, thank you. I was south of Kansas City so I had to shoot south, but fortunately we saw quite a few meteors.

Outstanding photos Tom, both are such interesting and well taken shots! I like the darker shadows, it creates more contrast and makes the stars brighter, IMHO.

I really like these kind of shots and might just try them my self. I remember trying and not really getting anything but that was way back...

Thanks Ben! Yes, wind in Kansas is kind of like sand at the Delaware beach - all day all the time!
