Breaking the Stillness

Orca slices through smooth water near San Juan Island in Washington. I can't recall if this was a member of K Pod, or a lone male from L Pod who was hanging out with the Ks. Will have to look up the markings to see if I can figure it out.

Mike, it really was awesome to have them so close. Unfortunately for my photographer self, my E-3 AF and shutter release were on the fritz and I missed a ton of good shots, including a few nearby breaches. :( I'm not quite ready to invest in a new platform just yet (Canon/Nikon) so I'll send my baby in for repair and see what Olympus has to say. I may have to jump ship sooner than anticipated.

WoW! I've never seen one! Hope to rectify that in the not-too-distant.

Eugene, I hope so, too. This was a first for me. I hope to get in one more opportunity before "the season" ends. ;)
