Grackle's Great Tail
Quiscalus mexicanus ~ Great-tailed Grackle, overexposed, at Las Gallinas (Marin County). He was strutting against a muted sky, trying to impress a nearby grackle girl.
The beautiful and sometimes-hated grackle is a bird I love photographing. The very quality that some people dislike, their gregariousness, is what makes grackles such engaging birds and photo subjects. And, in the right light, their iridescence shines blue, green and purple
