Hibernian General Railway Notice of Meeting 1825 2

The Hibernian General Railway was an early Irish concern to construct a North South and East West Railway covering the four shores of Ireland starting with a railway from Limerick to Waterford. The notice refers to a meeting of the 26 January 1825 to take forward the agreed prospectus which had been launched in April 1824 and seeking a £1,000,000 share issue divided into 20,000 shares of £50 each. To raise such a huge sum in the time allowed to build the railway by Parliament, was impossible and the scheme was abandoned in 1829.
