Thamnophis sauritus nitae

Bluestripe Ribbon Snake, Dixie County, Florida. This snake was found during the rains of Tropical Storm Debby. This night we saw 100+ T.s.nitae. Most were seen crossing a rural road in search of, or eating, frogs and toads. This one was in mid-consumption of a green tree frog (Hyla cinerea) and was not remotely deterred by my presence. Some of these snakes may not have eaten in months due to drought conditions
