Clues to the past

This range was once the home to many ranches and farms. At one point as many as 100 people lived in this hidden valley. This valley was once a quite and peaceful place up until the 80’s, when the Navy started conducting low altitude supersonic flight training here. The sonic booms proved to be too much for the people of the valley and they began moving and complaining to the Navy. The cold war & arms race was still in full swing and Regan was gearing up a 600 ship naval fleet so the Navy desperately needed more training ranges. The Navy’s decision was to buy out the remaining ranches to end the complaints. The local residents fought and protested, even making national news, but National Security prevailed and the Navy got its way.
