Long exposure to help bring out the reflection further on this very pretty day that had a slight breeze.

Been a rough day at work so far ... could really use a lunch break here ;)

Several minute exposure taken along one of the pretty lakes there in the Park.

Sunrise light on the peaks along this pretty little lake that sits above Lake Lundy along Mill Creek. Located on the western edge of Yosemite National Park.

Saw many of the classic scenes in Yosemite during this visit ... quite spectacular. But also had a lot more fun looking out for small creeks and waterfalls as well. Spent some time here and climbing up this creek (quite steep), as there were many drops along this section. Found many more locations within the park as well.

Really enjoyed the eastern side of the park ... a lot less people there, and even more so this year with all the snow. The damage to all the buildings and lodges from the extreme snow pack has all the lodges (the few that are there in the eastern side) all were closed due to roof collapses all over the place. The amount of snow still there on this side of the park even here in July is the evidence.

Hence a lot of the streams and rivers were flowing very high.

This capture here made with the CPL and 6 Stop ND stacked.

In the Lake Lundy area.

Wishing this moments could last longer ...

Captured with the CPL and 6 Stop ND Stacked

Tossed on the ND filter to smooth out the reflection a little more in the light winds that were flowing over the lake. It was a calm and pretty evening there.

A view there in the California mountains. Captured with the CPL and 6 Stop ND filters stacked.

Fresh flow from Virginia Lake in Yosemite, California.

Hand held capture made with the CPL filter only.

What should have been a meadow, was a lake with all the snow melt.

tree of trees

Hand held capture with the CPL filter.

Several years ago we swung into Yosemite for the day from the east entrance, and really enjoyed the wildlife and views there in Tuolumne Meadows. There was a large creek (the Tuolumne River) running through the meadow ... quite magical.

With all the extreme snow pack from this past winter, though, the meadow and creek were now a Lake during this visit (around the same time of year nearly to the date).

Hence I named this new feature Tuolumne Lake ;)

Captured with the CPL and 6 Stop ND stacked. Went to ISO 400 to get the shutter speed right where I wanted it at 1/10 second.

Really liked the rocks out there in the lake that break up the mirror there on the water.

The point of view really does not show how steep a slope this really was ... but the fast moving water fall cascading down brings some of that alive.

Fresh water it heads from one lake to another lower one in the Virginia Lakes area of California there at Yosemite.

Captured with the 6 Stop and CPL filters stacked. I increased the ISO here to 400 to shorten the shutter speed a little, as 1/10th a second looked quite pretty compared to 1/2 second with the brisk cascading flow. The position I was in on the slope, was easier to change the ISO versus swapping the 6 Stop for a 4 Stop ND filter.

Yostmite National Park

My second time here, the last time I was here was in the middle of winter. I need to come back, one day just isn't enough to photograph this awesome place.

Capture there between the Virginia Lakes in the Yosemite area. Did not have the tripod with me on this initial hike / scouting mission, but decreased the aperture to f/22 and took this hand held with the CPL filter to slow the shutter speed.

Taking this with the long exposure really brought out the muted reflections in the lake during the daytime. The clouds were slow movers that day, but their motion there is pretty cool still I think. Such a pretty spot in Yosemite.

Moon rise over Valley View, Yosemite. A very cloudy night, but got lucky as the moon was coming up.

Very late afternoon in Yosemite National Park.

Threw on the 9 Stop filter to get this to a 15 second exposure to smooth out the lake as there was just a slight breeze and movement on the water surface by this time in the evening.

Such a beautiful spot on the planet is Yosemite ... with many hidden treasures there. Hope to return there some day and really explore it properly ;))

B&W of a long exposure at sunset smoothing out the lake for this pretty reflection.

Found this little one there among the trees in the park.

B&W of a long exposure taken in pretty Yosemite.

Kayakers having some fun out on the lake near sunset. What a lovely spot to do that.

Yosemite National Park

One of my favorite places in the high country of Yosemite National Park

Three image stitch of 10mm shots taken there at the lake in the eastern end of the National Park.

Here is image #22 in this series of capturing the bulb capture ... in this case this was at Yosemite National Park.

The official sunrise at Yosemite two weeks ago was around 7:15, but sunrise there is somewhat unsual. The entire valley does not wake up to the sun at the same time. When the sun rises over the horizon, only the north side of the valley is lit. It wasn't until around 10 o'clock when the sun peaked over the edge of the south side of the valley wall. The photo above shows the first rays about to light up the entire valley.
