House Sevastyanova - one of the most impressive, bright and memorable buildings in Yekaterinburg. The palace was built in the early 19 th century and as it did not, it has no equal in the whole Urals. This powerful and impressive building could be called neo-gothic, if not for the gingerbread coloring, green-white-red.

It was more challenging than Moscow, which I liked, and had plenty of spots of interest.

My first proper leg on the Trans-Siberian route was the 22-hour, overnight trip from Niznhy Novgorod Moskovskiy to Yekaterinburg Passazhirskiy. I was in a kupe of four and people came and went as we stopped at various towns throughout the journey.

Yekaterinburg is a lovely, modern city which was a great stop for a few days. And it's the gateway to the Ural Mountains further north.
