The outstanding beauty of the Lakes and Fells takes your breathe away.

Windermere in the distance and the fells to the rear.

I stayed as a Boy Scout 1961 and nothing has changed. The whole field was once a Scouting Field and Scout Troops from over the UK would have filled this field back in the 1960s. Its the most tranquil place I have been and its where my love for the English Lakes began.

Wray Castle on the edge of the shore of Windermere in the Lake District.

Wray castle has not been long part of National Trust. They took on the building without and original furnishings and interior fixtures. In the meantime while it is decided what do with the building a book case was painted on the wall and people where asked to fill the shelves. Some very good books drawn on.

The stark white of the tree against the greens and purples of the hills with the carpet of yellow buttercups just blew me away. The shot was taken in the grounds of Wray Castle, Cumbria and the lighting as seen in the shot only lasted for a few minutes. I came back later to to try again but the intensity had gone.

The view from Wray castle where stunning. Beatrix Potter bought considerable tracts of land in the area, including most of the land surrounding Wray Castle.

..a fine view from the front of any house but when the house is built to look like a fine castle you can't help but admire it all. The castle was built in 1840 as a retirement home of the medic Dr. James Dawson from Liverpool. Now in the safe hands of The National Trust the castle is a popular place for younger family members but the fine views & architecture will please all.

Someone must've been expecting me....

This is the ceiling of the main lobby at Wray Castle, Claife, Cumbria. I really like the way the ceiling it is framed by the banisters from this angle.
