SPRING TIME
I love wildflowers that just pop up here and there giving you a beautiful surprise. It is amazing that they grow just about everywhere. What a versatile flower.

Some of the trails in Colorado are known for taking hikers through areas where wildflowers grow dense and tall. This is trail 403, which goes from Washington Gulch to Gothic Valley.
Flowers seen here include sneezeweed, alpine sunflower, cow parsnip, lupine and 2 species of paintbrush.
Best Viewed Large.......Western Australian Wildflower after the rain.

This delicate little beauty goes by an unseemly name, "Texas Toadflax". The background is made up of Indian Paintbrush. It was extremely windy so they aren't as sharp as I would like. (But, then, when is it not windy in Texas?)
this years has been good to all the wildflowers. A wet Spring and Summer rain.

Spring in the Texas Hill Country - What can I say that this image doesn't? Taken on a rainy morning near Castell, Texas. This road is one of the most beautiful to drive during wildflower time.

I saw something like this somewhere some time ago, I thought that with so many varieties of wildflowers blooming at the same time, it would work ...I think it did!!
I spent the weekend out at Carrizo Plain National Monument and was pleasantly surprised with the wildflower show this season. It's pretty early and I would guess it's very near peak bloom. Things seem to be better around the Selby camp turnoff and Eastward. It you have any inclination to head out that way...it better be soon!

Natural lens flare coming through a wildflower. The flower is the Eastern Coral Bean. I dug them up from a field in the country . They come up every year from tubers. One of my favorites of spring.
A small wildflower in my yard. They are gone by 10 am. A new one will open in the morning. ( Spiderwort ) I have a very special light condition in my greenhouse. It is like being in a big soft box. Mike

Kellie and I celebrated our anniversary by staying the night at the Snowbird Ski Resort. Very early the next morning we went in search of wildflowers in Albion Basin which is part of the Alta ski resort We found out we were too early in the year for most of the flowers but we did find a few here and there. We'll have to go back when the hillsides and meadows are truly in bloom. This image shows a small collection of flowers with the sunlit mountain peaks in the background as the sun rose.
