Spring is coming...

Taken at "Canada Blooms".

The modest Rose puts forth a thorn,

The humble sheep a threat'ning horn:

While the Lily white shall in love delight,

Nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright.

Little White Lily

William Blake

Smells very sweet;

On her head sunshine,

Rain at her feet.

Thanks to the sunshine,

Thanks to the rain,

Little White Lily

Is happy again.

Above this world, now back again

Millions of years, where it all began

And there’s a hold

For the savior who had the purest of heart

Let this be with you soon

There’s a new world laid at your feet

We build an army from nothing

We raise our children to the beat

Of this comforting battle

Before the dark

Sought against our ways and means

We’re now against our own uphold, ’til we find a cure

And another path into the deepest hole

Behind all insecurity

There is wall of assurance

She is her own worst enemy

She fights her battles for no one

There’s a new world laid at your feet

We build an army from nothing

We raise our children to the beat

Of this comforting battle

They are singing for a new beginning

You know by now

Water fills her lungs and she’s inhaling

You feel that now

Underneath the stars her body’s sinking

You know by now

The air is silent, not a sound

You walked my life, you took it back

We made you sing, now turn the clock

There’s a was or a something new

Throw my body at the stars

Where the angels look

They are singing for a new beginning

You know by now

Water fills her lungs and she’s inhaling

You feel that now

Underneath the stars her body’s sinking

You know by now

The air is silent, not a sound

During my recent winter tour to the Black Forest with Lars Kehrel and Fabian Müller we didn't miss the opportunity to visit the famous wind beech trees a the Schauinsland mountain. This is one of the few location which look great in reality but even better when you start photographing at it.

This is because with a photo of these tree you can really bring out their isolation and resilience which they need through the cold winter days. Here I opted for a radical approach: While sometimes the trees are isolated by a snow storm or heavy fog when we visited we could see the whole group of trees. By using a the right viewing angle and some heavy post-processing I did isolate my favorite tree of the group. I really like the level of abstraction you can achieve that way.

I had never seen these white doves in our garden before but last year when we had our few centimetres of snow several appeared. Still waiting for some snow this year although it was a cold -2c this morning and we do have a touch of frost!

Graceful white calla lily (zantedeschia aethiopica) in a vase.

tulips with a black and white color

OK, by contrast here's something with just about no color at all. It is an aetherization of an old fountain in a recently-closed turn-of-the-century grade-school attended by my family's elders.

Note the reflections in the left side tiles. I just noticed that myself.

A splash of color probably would have made this...roses in the bowl...ideas?

a thank you to mum and dad for the beautiful flowers which was a lovely welcome home present. SOOC apart fom slight crop (I was getting withdrawal symptoms from my macro lens)

I couldn't believe how much ice encrusted each tiny pine needle!

Taken in a little glasshouse attached to Olveston, a stately home open to tourists (but not photographers) in our city. Fortunately you can wander the grounds without restriction.

Thanks for visiting and especially comments.

WHITE PEACOCK

shot with 50mm fixed lens

The Mandarin drake or Mandarin duck (Aix galericulata) is known for its beautiful colors, but there are in Europe in captivity also various color mutations as white, apricot (or blonde) and black.

The most common of this rarity is the White Mandarin Duck. Although it is relatively unknown as the origin of this mutation. It is believed that those mutations also occur in nature, but that those birds usually do not survive for long because of their different coloration makes them stand out to predators.

In the wild, Mandarins can be found in northeast China, Korea, Japan and eastern Siberia.

The Mandarin Duck or just Mandarin, is a medium-sized perching duck, closely related to the Carolina Duck or North American Wood Duck (Aix sponsa). It is 41–49 cm long with a 65–75 cm wingspan.

The picture of a male of the rare White Mandarin Duck is taken at Ouwehands Dierenpark, zoo in Rhenen, the Netherlands
