Venus Rising - Redux
This is a re-edit of a photo from a year ago. Venus, the bright object in the sky that looks like a star and casting light on the ocean, was rising along side the Galactic Center of the Milky Way early last year. I wasn't happy with the original edit, it had some color balancing I didn't like and some blend problems. My goal was to re-do the color balance so it was more natural but the natural colored sky in this shot was a pale brown-orange due to light pollution to the south, so I cooled it down again and made it blue. Not quite the real color but it looks a whole lot more pleasing and dramatic. I'm still not 100% happy with it, maybe I'll edit it again in another year...
Venus can be seen here rising in the early evening skies above Blydenburgh Park. Our sister planet was at its brightest this year on December 6th, and has recently been a fixture (around sunset) in our southwestern skies.
Captured in Blydenburgh Park, Smithtown, NY.

Venus Rising
It's Milky Way time again! It also happens to be Venus time. Venus is currently visible in the southeast from New England before dawn. This shot is from around 5am on Saturday morning on the southern Maine seacoast.

Goddess on the mountain top
Burning like a silver flame
The summit of beauty and love
And Venus was her name
She's got it
Yeah, baby, she's got it
I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire..
At your desire
Her weapons were her crystal eyes
Making every man mad
Black as the dark night she was
Got what no one else had
Wah!
She's got it
Yeah, baby, she's got it
I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire
Well, I'm your Venus, I'm your fire
At your desire
Venus
She's got it
Yeah, baby, she's got it

Earth's "sister planet" a.k.a Venus. After the Moon, it is the brightest natural object in the night sky, reaching an apparent magnitude of −4.6, bright enough to cast shadows. That’s why I love this planet :o) . Today weather is keep changing! from the clean sky to cloudy, then raining! I must stop all the homework immediately because this weird weather! Insomnia is sucks, no sleep for the whole night. So this photo is taken early in the morning about 6.30am. have a nice day~

Venus sets as the Belt of Venus takes up the horizon over Yanuya Island, Fiji. Mercury had just set and Mars sits up higher in the sky.
The Belt of Venus is a colourful band between the dark eclipsed sky and the dark blue sky. It can be seen in nearly every direction including that opposite the Sun. Straight above, blue sky is normal sunlight reflecting off the atmosphere.
This was my last astro shot of 2014, let's hope 2015 brings some good luck to all :)
Self-timer shot taken during a night spent on the summit of Mount Brévent (2.525 m), over Chamonix.
Taken on March 14th 2012, looking West, just to show the last light of the sun already gone, and, even more important, the beautiful shining presence of two planets: Jupiter and Venus.
On the right of the two planets mentioned, in this photo you can see: Hamal (Alpha Arietis), Sheratan (Beta Arietis), the brightest stars in the constellation of Aries.
Center: Almaak, Mirach, Alpheratz, of Andromeda constellation.
More to the North (up on the far right) is visible the Cassiopeia constellation, with Ruchbah, y Cas, η Cas, Caph, Shedir...

Venus' Looking Glass gets its name from its flat, black, shiny seeds that look like tiny mirrors. Medicinal uses have been attributed to it and Cherokee Native Americans used to steep the roots and drink the infusion for digestion.
** Can someone help me? How do you post pictures in the comments without having the picture show up in your photostream? **
Venus rises over the rocky shoreline at Granite Bay, Noosa National Park. The central bulge of our Milky Way dominates the area above Venus.
Canon 6D (full spectrum modified), ISO3200, Multirow panorama consisting of shots that vary in shutter speed (15s to 3min) and aperture (f2.2 to f4.0). An Astrotrac was used to track the stars (no star trailing, longer exposures, lower ISO).
The Venus Flytrap (also Venus's Flytrap or Venus' Flytrap), Dionaea muscipula, is a carnivorous plant that catches and digests animal prey—mostly insects and arachnids. Its trapping structure is formed by the terminal portion of each of the plant's leaves and is triggered by tiny hairs on their inner surfaces. When an insect or spider crawling along the leaves contacts a hair, the trap closes if a different hair is contacted within twenty seconds of the first strike. The requirement of redundant triggering in this mechanism serves as a safeguard against a waste of energy in trapping objects with no nutritional value. (From Wikipedia article)
Best Viewed Large.......When the Venus Fly Trap shows red colouring it means it's a very healthy plant.
I appreciate all the visits, faves and kind comments -
Many thanks Friends and Happy Thursday !
The same night as the previous shot. In this photo we can see Venus and Jupiter very close to each other and shining more than usual.

The Roman goddess Venus was among a large pantheon of gods and goddesses, yet Paleolithic peoples did not leave behind artifacts representing other deities or male deities.

David Fahrner
