The $25 Snapping Turtle...Sue's Photo & Description:

Traveling down highway 40B we saw something on the road. As we got closer we saw this snapping turtle. This is a very busy highway at times so we stopped and I got out of the car. another car was heading right for the turtle. To make this long story shorter...I took off my sweater and placed it over the turtle and picked it up. I took him across the road in the directing he was heading. No one told me that turtles stink...I mean really stink. Off to Walmart to get a new sweater...no good deed goes unpunished :) Yes, it was a big one and very heavy...that surprised me.

One of my turtles Michelangelo..

Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, Austin, TX. Sony nex5r and Schneider Kreuznach Componar 50/4.5 enlarger lens. The turtles have grown accustomed to the passers by at the entrance to the Center, and they seem to enjoy their theatrics.

Northern Map turtle was slipping into the water. I was checking the osprey nest about fifty feet higher than the turtle.

looking for mushrooms and all of a sudden this turtle appears.

The turtle swam out from the lake and chased away some ducks that were sitting near.

The trip to the national zoo had a few good captures. In general I was unable to get into the game so to speak and had the camera settings off from what I would have done if I took my time and thought about it more. Such goofs should get less frequent with more practice.

Taken for ODC - Animal

Not furry and cuddly, but he does have a certain reptilian charm. He becomes quite the "animal" though at dinner time; pushing the smaller turtles out of his way.

Wandering the two tracks near Crooked Creek in north Arkansas, I came across this colorful turtle. Likely an orange box turtle.
