Norwegian summer nights are long... You have to be patient for the blue hour ;-) This picture is taken on Knutefjell after midnight (at 00:43 AM) towards the north. This is the hour for the trolls and other creatures to awaken!
The sun came too fast for the trolls. They turned into stone and will stay by the sea, watching the time goes by
You should of know Norway is a land of trolls. And we've seen some. They were sleeping.
I was surprised the storm is a time for photography too. Mists and deep colors transform the view picturesque way.
The shot was taken in a small trip around Lofoten while we could not go fishing.
Thank you for all your comments and favs.
Edvard Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain King This one fits perfect^^
The whole pic is from Rune SL besides "the little troll" ;) John Bauer He was a Swedish painter and illustrator best known for his illustrations of "Among Gnomes and Trolls"
You have no excuses. You have been warned. There are trolls on Føroyar.
Let's just say that you've turned off Highway 10 onto local road 594. It's not much of a road but it's in the Faroes so it will be taking you somewhere interesting. They all do. This risin or troll if you prefer is along that local road and emerging from the side of a shipping container. Why he's here and what he's about is unclear. But you can be sure it's not good deeds.
Thanks for your visit and comments, I appreciate that very much!

Image I had posted long ago but for a computer crash and also disappeared from flickr ...... so the decision to post it again.
Of course I lost all the comments and beans, many of them were also on Explora (I'm pissed off like a hyena) :-))))
When the Nature sometimes is a creepy designer ! The shape of the clouds confuse the brain that makes us see (me personally a troll face) different things from reality. The shot got closing of nearly two stop (-1.7ev) and increasing the contrast in pp
This is from my trip to Öland, in a place called trollskogen ( troll forest ) and this tree is over 900 years old! The walk was 4.5 km and the forest was so beautiful! I didn't have time to photograph everything, but I got a thousand ideas! I sure want to go back!
Hope everyone have had a great summer!
The troll-land ...this's my latest creation guys. I think that the title suits the picture perfectly... after creating this image I just could not get that title out of my head ;-) so decided to stick to it... I hope you will like... Once upon a time,
- long before pretty ladies started getting tattoos which were once the preserve of tough weatherbeaten sailors & prisoners (the kind that stubbed their cigarettes out in the palms of their hands),
little pigs made houses from straw, sticks or bricks, depending on how smart they were,
& big bad wolves used to blow a lot if they fancied little pigs for supper.
The only Trolls you ever heard about were big, scary monsters in fairy tales & they always, always waited under bridges to get you.
That was in the days before you carried a phone in your pocket & then Trolls started appearing on the internet as well.
There are Trolls in Iceland too, but they're perfectly fine because they were turned to stone ages ago, so nothing to be scared of, you can see them right here silhouetted against the horizon.
Sometimes photography is really easy - you know where you want to be, what lens you're going to use, what filters you'll be juggling with & whether or not you'll be doing a pano & you're cruising on autopilot.
At times like this, Mother Nature throws you a curveball & things can get a little confusing.
You really want to give the telephoto an airing & zoom right in on these monster waves to do them justice - but how on Earth can you do that & exclude those iconic trolls lingering in the background - you could shoot waves anywhere on the coast in a gale couldn’t you?
Besides wouldn't that be the same analogy as going somewhere like Westminster Bridge or the Leaning Tower of Pisa, getting a selfie stick out but only photographing your face & not the background? - & wouldn't that just be pointless? because then you might as well do a selfie in the back garden mightn't you?
In Greek mythology, Poseidon - God of the Sea created a horse to amuse his mistress Demeter before he tired of her.
Sailing types will know that breaking waves are referred to as white horses - because the crest of the wave resembles the mane of a horse & the the crashing waves sound like thundering hooves.
Here you can see the resemblance clearly - you'll have to trust me that the sound was dramatic. This was taken mid afternoon with that Arctic light that gives a golden hour feel to much of the day.
We stayed here for what seemed minutes but turned out to be hours - the white horses were awe inspiring & mesmerising.
If you pass near a bridge this weekend be very very careful - you never really know what might be lurking underneath :))
Hope everyone has a Flickrtastic weekend!
In the Lofoten Islands along Norway's incredible coastline, is the Troll Fjord, which we visited twice on the Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Voyage. The first was under the subdued lighting of the midnight sun while Grieg's "The Hall of the Mountain King" was played on all the decks. The second was this daylight visit. The Troll Fjord is an extremely narrow cliff-walled inlet, requiring a rotatory turn using thrusters for our ship to return to the Raftsundet Strait, between Svolvaer and Stokmarknes. Here, seagulls circle impatiently as the Eagle Excursion vessel photographs our ship, the Nordkapp. The gulls know what comes next: they will have scraps left over from the sea eagle feeding done in an adjacent smaller fjord to allow photographers incredible capture opportunities of the sea eagles up close. I unfortunately missed that trip [devoid of good camera equipment], but if I had taken it, then we would not be seeing this shot.

Week 40: Anthromorphism
I was looking at what was left of the pepper I used for last week's challenge when I spotted what looked like teeth, followed by the rest of the face and the ears.
