This wild orchid is found in the open forests of Borneo and Sumatra at elevations of up to 1300 meters (4,265 feet). It thrives in warm to hot conditions. It is a small to medium sized epiphyte with a stem carrying leaves which bloom in the spring and fall. The inflorescence have one or two small flowers of about 2.65 cm (1.1 inch) across. The flowers are fragrant.

 

The genus is named in reference to its hairy lip. It was named after a Belgian gardener and botanist in Indonesia. (Synonyms Trichoglottis appendiculifera Holttum 1969). {Condensed from Orchids wiki and Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia.}
