The wall of flowers at Trader Joe's!

The snow mounds and ice are finally melting here in New York City and I'm able to drive to my favorite flower markets to fill my house with the sights and colors of spring. I'm so excited to have these beautiful colors in my home to enjoy and photograph. More flowers tomorrow!

i needed a few things. i came home with a few more things...

I have no title. Explored!

Just tulips from Trader Joe's. I thought they were pretty.

Yep, had to have some of these for the dollies!

Here's another mono shot, this morning playing in traffic near nob hill. This could well be the only HANDHELD shot in my entire photostream. I pretty much always have the camera mounted to my tripod, but the circumstances here required being out in the middle of a busy intersection...so handheld it was. I spied this shot a couple years before, and didn't have the glass for it then.

It was a fun time and I ended up meeting with two different friends, at different times, strangely enough. Thanks guys, for the company. Lens is the tiny but powerful F*300/4.5 on the Pentax K5. Nik silver efex and some random burning here and there. I hope you like it!

Such a great selection of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes!

She dragged her new friend in there first thing.

Huge! On black

Pleased with our results, we are still cutting up TJ's bags as we speak! :)

read more on my blog for the DIY :)

Oh man, after ten days of vacation, real life is rough! I am longing for those days filled with nothing to do but take pictures of my lunch.

This is a great cheap beer... $2.99 for a six pack.

after being away for a while, it feels great to finally be under my own roof.

thanks to rachel, morgan and katt for the testimonials! if anyone else would like to write me one, go for it... hehe.

i have to pull $24.95 out of a hat for my pro account. mehhhh.

lastly, follow me on twitter if you haven't! my goal for the summer is to get 500 followers and i'm almost there!

fact #9: i'm an indecisive loser and i lie to myself constantly.

Against the Grain

My favorite kind of green for today. The kids swam while I ate the prop. :)

At home in the kitchen keeping winter at bay.

Photos taken on 07/04/2009. Main entrance of Albertsons Savon Supermarket at Palms and Sepulveda in West Los Angeles. Store was completely remodeled during the fall of 2008. It has the all new white decor. The outside of the store was repained and the Sav-on Pharmacy Sign was updated. Note the new- "We've Cut Price" banner that they have put up on various stores in the area.

The Albertsons Sav-On Supermarket building has gone through a series of names and changes. Originally opened as a Department Store it has been chopped up and modified over the years. The Department Store building has gone through a series of owners including Leonard's Department Store. Finally, Fazio's Supermarkets took over the building, chopped it up, taking off about a third of the building. Fazio's ran it until Albertsons took over the chain. Immediately they re branded the store and changed its format to a warehouse style supermarket. Albertsons ran this supermarket as a Grocery Warehouse then changed its name to Max Foods. In 1999, Albertsons took over Lucky Stores, leaving them with two supermarkets across the street from one another. Albertsons Supermarkets changed the name of the Lucky Supermarket to Albertsons. They ran both Albertsons and Max Foods for about a year. Finally, they closed the Max Foods, gutted the building and rebuilt it into a new Albertsons. They closed the old Albertsons across the street. The old former Lucky building sat vacant for some time (rumor had it that the owners of the property had raised the lease/rent on Albertsons and that was the reason they moved.)

The former Lucky Albertsons building was then subdivided with Longs Drugs taking over half the site and finally Trader Joe's Market taking over the other side (despite Trader Joe's being only a couple of miles away at National and Westwood.)

All the stores remain packed with customers.

Day 44 alternate for things I love: Trader Joe's.

i shoulda had a list...but it still probably wouldn't have done me any good...because i don't stick to them.

after sleeping away most of the day...i got up when my husband asked me if i wanted to go to trader joes. what woman doesn't want to go shopping? of course i do! he wanted to go to get the sweet & spicy pecans...but his mistake was in getting a basket!!!

i walked up and down every aisle...tossing items in casually. this looks good! i always wanted to try this! oh...this is something new! i really don't need an excuse to shop. so...we came here for one item...and left with five bags!

well...the oven just sounded to let me know it's reached the right temp...so i'm going to go pop in those chicken enchiladas...and get myself a beverage to go with 'em. :)

Quick stop in the local Trader Joe's for some Pizza Sauce and shot a quick pick of the bananas. SOOC with only a minor crop. Yep, bananas. Next...

I wish these were from my garden, but they're not. Mine are only a few inches tall, and since it's currently snowing outside I have lost all hope that they will ever bloom. I bought these at Trader Joe's (only $2.99 a bunch!) about a week ago. I think tulips are at their most interesting and beautiful just before they drop their petals, like these!
