Little Owl eating a large beetle.
For the first hour and a half he sat motionless a few hundred yards away on a wooden frame at the edge of the farm. I was becoming resigned to it being 'one of those days' when he must have felt sorry for me and flew in to start hunting from this concrete block.
He caught a vole which I presume was taken to the nesting female and owlets, whilst feeding on these large black beetles himself in between naps.

I uploaded a similar shot a few months ago, but I hope you'll forgive me a second as this is so far the only time I've managed to photograph one of these exquisite creatures during daylight hours.
Anyway, I was sifting through some old RAW files and noticed this one with the Pine Marten licking its lips after feasting on a snack left our by our holiday cottage neighbours. It is easy to imagine how they came by the alternative name "Sweet Marten" when you see their obvious liking for jam!

A CSX "Big 6" AC60 leads southbound iron ore train K172 through Tontogany, Ohio, on the former B&O Toledo Division. Daylight southbound trains have become a little rare as of late north of Deshler, and with the impending replacement of the B&O cantilever signal it's "get 'em while you can."

The penguin walk is the biggest draw of the Asahiyama Zoo in Hokkaido prefecture, Northern Japan in winter. These guys may look cute, but their beaks are serious tools of trade. I asked one staff, who explained that it hurts quite a bit.
