Blue Bottle fly...enjoying the tasty bud...

I uploaded a similar shot a few months ago, but I hope you'll forgive me a second as this is so far the only time I've managed to photograph one of these exquisite creatures during daylight hours.

 

Anyway, I was sifting through some old RAW files and noticed this one with the Pine Marten licking its lips after feasting on a snack left our by our holiday cottage neighbours. It is easy to imagine how they came by the alternative name "Sweet Marten" when you see their obvious liking for jam!
