TANGI BEACH IN THE GAMBIA, and this Caspian Tern has just managed to steal a fish from the incoming fishing boats, which are laden with fish after a good night's fishing. Now, it will have to run the gauntlet from the other much larger gulls to keep its amazing prize fish.
Zoom in for more detail.
====================
THANK YOU for your visit and friendship, keep safe and well, and enjoy the weekend, God bless
.............Tomx.
At Tangi Beach in the Gambia, these two CASPIAN TERNS were posing nicely on a dune, so it would have been rude not to take their photo.
Just loved this image, hope you do too.

The lower part of the Aniwaniwa Falls is called "Te Tangi o Hinerau" (Tears of Hinerau) and commemorates the legend of Hinerau, a Tuhoe woman of high rank famed for her beauty. When gathering food from the bush she was trapped between a chasm and a cliff by an earthquake. To summon help she threw a blade of flax with an ornament attached into the river. Losing hope of being rescued, she began to cry. Her tears grew and became a torrent that rushed over the rocks of the chasm, forming a waterfall. Her flax blade eventually floated into Lake Waikaremoana where Te Toru, a Ruapani chief discovered it. Te Toru went upstream, rescued Hinerau and later married her. GULL WITH TRADITIONAL FISHING BOAT, ....One of the most amazing sights in the Gambia for me is seeing the fishing boats come in laden with fish and men, people wading out to get first choice of fish, other poorer people picking out the sea the discarded fish, gulls, terns and pelicans everywhere.
Just liked the look of this image, hope you do. Thanks for your visit, and any comments are very appreciated......Tomx.

The power still stands

Looking for the right path
for all of us.
May is duck hunting season in NZ. The hunters hide in a shelter called a maimai on the edge of a pond and hope ducks will land there. They don't usually have a walkway like this through the swamp at Sinclair Wetlands south of our city. The ducks were all on another pond where there was no maimai of course.
Although it looks like a Maori word it seems to be English as in Maori maimai means a song to welcome people to a funeral.(Tangi)
Have a good Tuesday and hope all is calm.

Happy Independence Day Philippines!
Umawit, tumula, kumata't at sumulat,
Kalakhan din niya'y isinisiwalat.
Walang mahalagang hindi inihandog
Ng may pusong mahal sa Bayang nagkupkop,
dugo, yaman, dunong, katiisa't pagod,
Buhay ma'y abuting magkalagut-lagot.
Bakit?
Walang alaala't inaasa-asam
Kundi ang makita'y lupang tinubuan.
Pati ng magdusa'y sampung kamatayan
Wari ay masarap kung dahil sa bayan
At lalong mahirap. Oh, himalang bagay!
Ang anak, asawa, magulang, kapatid;
Isang tawag niya'y tatalidang pilit.
Hayo na nga, hayo, kayong nagabuhay
Sa pag-asang lubos ng kaginhawahan
At walang tinamo kundi kapaitan,
At hanggang may dugo'y ubusing itigis;
kung sa pagtatanggol, buhay ay mapatid,
Ito'y kapalaran at tunay na langit!
Bird watchers and photographers love Mangalajodi.
Mangaljodi, a village in Khordha district, near BHUVANESHWAR, Odisha hosts more than 150000 birds on fresh water zone of Chilka Lake especially in winters. It is a paradise of birds that migrates from far-away places of the world.
It is also a paradise for bird watchers and photo lovers. Best time to visit is December to February. Some days blossom with Sun and some greet you with mist.
Yet you will never return without taking a good picture.
We stayed at Godwit Eco Cottage, Mangalajodi, Odisha organized by Federation of Indian Photography. We were participants of fourth batch FIP workshop in five batches from middle of January to middle of Feb. 2023.
Mr.Santhosh Jana of Kolkota, coordinator, guided and helped us in every aspect of stay, food, transport and boating arrangements etc.
Guides and boatmen were keen to extend their experience that helped us to return with good shots of the birds.
Interestingly the fact is that an NGO is responsible to convert all the poachers of those days to boat men and guides.
We enjoyed our eco stay.
Why not you?
Probably the most Northern Irish Vehicle you will ever see!
Very popular in Belfast but not really anywhere else.

Walking the beach photographing terns, new of the remote possibility of seeing a Osprey, a migrant visitor Oct to March (60cm length) to my amazement one passed over the top of my head without being seen, all I knew was seeing it in a steep banked dive towards the sea edge in front of me, snatched ten images all in focus, a bit jammy but something I will never forget, the dive was unsuccessful for the osprey, but sheer joy for me, the adrenaline was making my hands shake! "Pure magic!"
Thanks for your visit, in my mind am still living the Gambia experience , all comments are very appreciated and find encouraging, have a great weekend, God bless .....Tomx
A huge pelican, greyish white overall, favors any aquatic habitat, fresh or saline, including the sea, where conditions favour fishing, so this was taken at Tangi beach where many Gambia and Senegal fishing boats unload there catch, the most amazing sight, with 20-30 of them squabbling and fighting over fish. Have also seen them soaring high even with raptors, at 160 cm. long and a wing span probably twice that its a formidable sight!
Thank you for your visit, any comments are very appreciated, have a great friday and weekend, the weather in kent UK has improved a bit, some sunshine has been forecast.........God bless you!.....Tomx

The white-headed female paradise shelduck (Tadorna variegata) and duckling. The Māori name, pūtangitangi, refers to the call – tangi is a lamentation for the dead. The bird is also nicknamed parrie, short for paradise.
Shelducks are goose-like ducks with long necks.
Lagu penyembahan yang menyentuh hati - Cara Tuhan Memerintah Atas Segalanya
Ⅰ
engkau mulai lakukan tugasmu.
Dalam rencana dan penetapan Tuhan,
kau ambil peran,
dan memulai jalan hidupmu.
Apa pun latar b'lakangmu
atau jalan di hadapanmu,
tiada yang bisa lepas dari pengaturan
dan rencana yang Surga siapkan,
dan tiada yang berkuasa atas nasibnya,
s'bab hanya Dia yang mem'rintah atas s'galanya
mampu lakukan hal itu.
Ⅱ
Sejak hari manusia ada
Tuhan s'lalu lakukan karya-Nya,
mengatur alam semesta
dan arahkan perubahan
dan pergerakan semua.
Manusia dan semua ciptaan
tanpa sadar t'rima
pem'liharaan yang manis,
hujan dan embun dari Tuhan.
Manusia dan semua ciptaan tanpa sadar
hidup dalam pengaturan tangan Tuhan.
Hati dan roh manusia
ada dalam genggaman Tuhan,
dan seluruh hidup manusia
dalam pandangan Tuhan.
Entah engkau percaya atau tidak,
s'mua makhluk,
yang hidup dan yang mati,
'kan bergeser, berubah,
diperbarui, dan sirna,
s'turut pikiran Tuhan.
Inilah cara Dia mem'rintah atas s'galanya.
