Boats on the beach at Oystermouth on Swansea Bay, looking back towards the city.

Swansea Castle has had a shorter lifespan compared to other Welsh castle, but her history is just as exciting. The ruins which remain today are of the third castle known to have been built on this site. From battles and sieges, and several changes of ownership, this castle’s history is varied and interesting. It’s a shame that some of the castle was removed and modern buildings constructed in very close proximity.

A beautiful start to a new day near Swansea in Tasmania. A reworked image from 2017 which I'm much happier with!

One from my jaunt the other evening. It started raining heavily at this point so instead of turning my camera in the opposite direction to capture boats with their Christmas decs up , we turned on our heels and drove home.

How kind of this early morning walker to provide an interest point for my image.

We smiled as we passed each other on the empty beach, perhaps a special camaraderie amongst the only two people willing to get up early and brave the cold for the solitude and beauty of the early morning, or perhaps we were wincing against the cold.

An abandoned mining town in SW Arizona, Swansea was populated by Welsh miners, hence the name of the place. Not much there today.

Just one photo from the fireworks display on Swansea Bay last night to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Swansea being a city. After a couple of minutes the whole thing came to a grinding halt, the PA saying there was a 'technical hitch'. We thought that summed up the city but just as we'd given up they finally got it going again. During the lull it gave me time to move away from the thousands on the promenade down onto the beach. There was lots of standing water at low tide so managed to get better photos than the start. All worked out in the end.

One that I've uploaded in the past but which I converted into MOno.

Gorgeous sunrise starting to lose its colour, mainly due to the incoming sea fog. Very soon after I took this photo the fog had taken over.

This landmark structure at the Swansea Marina in South Wales is known as the Sail Bridge because of the maritime references in its mast and stays. It spans 140m across the River Tawe and is supported from a single central mast. The deck is boomerang shaped in plan and supported by cable stays in a semi-fan arrangement. Opened in 2003 it has become a familiar icon symbolising the rebirth of this part of Swansea's Docklands.
