Keyhole Falls in the Subway of Zion National Park (a.k.a., Left Fork of North Creek). This location is the terminus of the hike if you're hiking from the bottom-up, as you can't get by this location without climbing gear. Alternatively, you can hike top-down using hand lines, simple rappelling gear, etc. Next time I'm in the park I'll definitely be doing the hike top-down. When you hike bottom up, you still see this and the famed Subway formation, but you miss almost all of one of Zion's most beautiful slot canyons. Also, if you want to do this hike (either top-down or bottom-up) make sure to apply for your permit far in advance! The popularity of the hike makes permits difficult to obtain. There is a last minute lottery drawing, but why risk it if you know you want to do the hike? I have two other shots of this location on Flickr - one with the sun directly streaming in, and one darker shot. Out of the three, this one is my personal favorite - I've got a 16 x 24 printed and ready to hang on my wall at home!

Finally made my way to the Subway. This is a long hike along the river, with a long of fun and a bit of pain (on my toes..) Fall color at Zion is a little early this year. The trees along trail past peak when we were there. But there were still some leaves remaining in the pool of Subway, which worked out a tiny swirl under long exposure.

Subway Series.
Decided to start a new project for 2015. As many of you know Stockholm Subway system is full of beautiful architecture and has been decorated with sculptures, mosaics, paintings, installations, engravings and reliefs by over 150 artists.
Ive been to most stations but never really looked at them. Next year that will change. I will upload pictures, like this one of the station on the Blue line called Duvbo on my homepage under callehoglund.se/Portfolio/Architecture/thumbs-caption/

The things people do for photography.. Hauling all ur gear for a strenuous 9 miles hike to the Subway which involves climbing over a bunch of obstacles, waiting for good light, sliding around precariously on algae covered slick rocks hoping not to fall into the water. Another bucket list item checked. Worth it or not, I shall leave you to decide :P

The Subway, Zion National Park.
Walking from the bottom up first through a wide open valley that slowly forms ever more into a canyon as the huge cliffs above gradually close in. They reach a point where they pinch the river tight and over thousands of years this amazing formation has been carved out of the rock. Not quite a tunnel but seemingly so.
A great adventure shared with a good friend.
This is the view from a subway stop. The black bar is the edge of...I can't remember what...at the subway stop. The view annoys me--- January 25, 2009 is just annoying. I woke up and logged on to a gmail account which I haven't logged onto for over a month to find that it had been suspended. Ergh. I'm pretty sure it's because they consider me spam...but I really do need to send a weekly email (not spam, just important dates of events) to 310 people. blargh.

Spent a wonderful hour exploring this amazing for nation in the back country of Zion National Park. Late fall so the water was very low but still spell binding. Was a tough trail in but worth every step.

The lights in this subway station keep changing colours - quite irritating if you have to wait a while...
