Dark flows & subtle shades display themselves along the Shasta River on the Oregon/Northern California border.

When the sun goes down on the East coast the colours have a wonderful softness

HAVE A SUPER WEEKEND !

I've always liked the subtle relaxing tones of watercolour paintings , I thought this misty frosty morning had a similar feel.

Under white snow earth sleeps

Silent (wait in silence)

Grasses bow and bend their ears

Patient (listen with patience)

Thus they will hear Spring's waking call;

This was ever the way (learn this well).

Another photograph from winter 2010. The snow was so silent, soft, and white. The only features in the landscape were the grasses which seemed to bend as if straining to listen ...

"she moved from long beach down to LA, right now she sellin' oranges by the freeway. i wanna know, "ramona am i the only one? tell me." and she said, "you're not the only one but you're the best bradley."

This was taken from my deck.

Very much an experiment. A black and white conversion to which I've applied "concrete" textures. I quite like the milky opaque effect, like an old black and white image that has got tarnished in some way.

Making the most of my week off work, yet another morning out with the camera. this time back to Tiddesley Wood in time for sunrise.

My bluebell hunting adventure can be viewed here

Common Pheasant / phasianus colchicus. Suffolk. 20/04/16.

I have just come across this image, made in early Spring and I'm struck by the wonderful tones in the female Pheasant's plumage.

In particular the very delicate and subtle lilac tones show beautifully on the feathers encircling her neck.

She really is stunning and her beauty contradicts reference descriptions of her as being 'plain', 'buff coloured' or 'drab'.

I suppose you need to have a close encounter with one, in good light, to really appreciate the wealth of colours.

Luckily for me, this bird obliged and provided me with one.

Set up on the beach on the east of Scotland, Looking for a nice balanced exposure with subtle tones and making a long exposure for a smooth feeling of isolation,

Setting up the Canon 6D facing the stunning anglo saxon castle in the back ground and the stunning rock on the beach in the front, The Lee Big Stopper smoothed out the sea creating a scene of peacefulness.

DSC00682f A remarkable snow drift. This is a small creek in the summer time. Picture taken in the Boreal Trail area, Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba, Canada.

Thank you, sweet darling! My beautiful six-year-old nephew - well, part of him!

Sometimes we need to do something to justify our purchase of the DSLR. This is like shooting the same scene with your compact camera and DSLR for comparison.

And then we try to convince ourselves that the advanced DSLR is delivering the better tones and result. I am doing that too in Garry Point.

Although I only shot in JPEG with my Nikon D300, I think it is fair to say it really gives better tones.

Please let me know what you think.

On the other hand, I think most people will find sunset in color more appealing. Please give me your comment and suggestions too.

Happy Thursday!
