Our state fair is a great state fair,
Don't miss it, don't even be late.
It's dollars to donuts
That our state fair
Is the best state fair in our state!

North Carolina's Smoky Mountains at the Triple Falls area.
The DuPont State Forest is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains between Hendersonville and Brevard, North Carolina. Its 10,400 acres of forest feature four major waterfalls on the Little River and several on the Grassy Creek.
The original 7600 acre forest was established in 1996 through a generous bargain sale from the DuPont Corporation. In 2000, the Forest was expanded by two property additions, including the spectacular 2200 acre tract in the center of the Forest containing High Falls, Triple Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. when I took this photo, the persimmon tree was like this, in state of grace....
A client of mine asked me to go over to the Minnesota State Capitol building in St. Paul Minnesota and capture it for a project that they are doing. From my understanding of the project, the client was looking for mostly external shots and the images were to be in a horizontal layout. But if you are at all familiar with the capital building, you know that the really amazing stuff is on the inside... This view caught my attention and I had to capture it.
This was shot at approximately 10:00 am and the weather outside was perfectly clear so the lighting coming in was strong and rich. The result is this wonderfully mysterious glow at the top of the stairway, which allows for seeing all the great details of this amazing structure.
If you get an opportunity, get over there and capture the place yourself. ;-D
Have a great weekend!!

Yup, it's Danvers State Hospital again. This is about two-thirds of what's being saved.
I took this photo on the first day the state began allowing people to walk the property on certain Tuesdays. It was freezing cold, but I was too happy to really notice.
Blanding, Utah, USA.
Goosenecks State Park does not attract half as many visitors as Horseshoe Bend and is less popular. However, it is a lovely spot to stop if you happen to be in the vicinity. Both places have often been compared, but each has its own beauty.

Have a great evening everyone
State of Illinois building. I was going to do a big write up about it. Maybe some other day. It is a polarizing building. In some ways it is the ugliest in Chicago - and in some ways it is one of the coolest.
Terrific Thursday to you.
Special good luck and thoughts of strength, peace and love to my flickr friend Jeanne today. She is going to need it.

Some people see things as being very black and white with very little color...
“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.”

..."I can show you
that when it starts to rain
everything's the same
I can show you...
...Can you hear me
that when it rains and shines
it's just a state of mind
Can you hear me"...

Font's Point is a scenic viewpoint in the Borrego Badlands area of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in San Diego County.
The area is named after Father Pedro Font, a Franciscan Friar who accompanied Spanish Conquistador Juan Bautista de Anza on his explorations through the valley. Anza opened up the desert route that the Spanish used as an overland supply route between Mexico and settlements as far north as San Francisco.
Taken on Sunday at Glenbog State Forest.
The recipe: Switch your camera on "manual", then turn the focus ring until all you can see are some colorful blobs (my favorite kind!), then take a picture. Now you can go wild with the sliders, but here I just increased saturation and contrast, crossprocessed, added texture....and done! HSS!
