Star Trails shot in Nevada desert from my Chasing Andromeda imaging trip (2013).

I dry a lot of fruit and vegetables. Star fruit is not delicious when dried. These stars have been perched on the narrow ledge of my window frame for 2 months. I know they need to be put in the compost but...they have been spared due to being cute and good dancers.
I made these stars( almost like birds) when I was 5 years old and with them I want to wish you all a Happy 2013...
I have a trip to the Tengger Desert,China last month. In the edge of this desert i touched the beautiful night sky even with a bit of lightpollution.
This picture was stitching with four shots.Sony A7 with Leica R50/2 @2.8 ISO5000 20sec exposure.
Star Trails image taken from my home this morning at
5:14 a.m.
Many stars were behind the clouds but some of them were quite brilliant.
I believe there is a shooting star in the center of the wheel. I saw one last night and another one this morning.
Thank you for your comments.

Star Slinger is one of my new favorite producers that I discovered this year. (Seriously, his whole playlist has not left my iPod that I use for jogging for the past 4 months.) I got a chance to see him perform on Sunday night and then we had an impromptu photo shoot Monday morning. You can check out and download a lot of his music from his site and his Soundcloud:

Le Stelle Muoiono (Steven Wilson)
La luna si scuoteva e si arricciava come un fuoco delicato
Oceano lucidato
filo elettrico fuso.
Voci ronzavano in occhi a spirale.
Stelle immerse nei cieli accecanti
Le stelle muoiono.
Cieli accecanti.
L'albero s'incrinò e la montagna pianse
I ponti si ruppero, la finestra sospirava
Le cellule crescevano e i fiumi esplodevano
Il suono si oscurò.
Mente disoccupata e anima divisa.
Nervi silenziosi e bocche imploranti.
Foschia superficiale per distruggere la strada.
Iper sonno per finire il giorno
The Star King trail which leads to the summit of Mt Waumbek (4006') in NH is a wonderful hike to an 'easy' four thousand foot summit. The lower section of trail passes through a beautiful hardwood forest of mostly sugar maple trees, but my favorite part is the entire upper half. The upper half of the trail is completely enchanting as it meanders through a thick alpine forest of lichen clad spruce and balsam trees, entwined with lush carpets of vibrant mosses and interesting boulders. Had it been foggy or drizzling, this trail would truely be enchanting in every conceivable manner! Views are limited to peekaboos among the fir waves and a limited outlook onto the northern Presidentials from a ledgy area on the summit of Star King, with virtually no views at all from Waumbek itself. However, it's my opinion, this has been one of the more beautiful trails in the Whites so far. Curious what it's like in winter? :)

This is a composite shot of 350 pictures taken at the summit of Mt. Locke.
There were so many stars that when I tried to do this as a normal star trail shot the sky almost turned completely white, so instead I stacked the photos in photoshop and I adjusted the opacity in the layers to make the trails lighter and I left a frame with the milkyway more exposed.
You can see the Harlan J. Smith Telescope from the McDonald Observatory on the left and the milkyway rising on the right.
I also like how it looks as if the star trails below the milkyway look like rain coming down.

Skippool Creek, River Wyre Lancashire. I visited this site earlier in the day for the first time and I couldn't believe I'd never been before. So many great photography subjects. Because the weather was very clear that same night I decided to return.
I thought this old boat was a nice subject so I thought I'd take a quick star trail.
Thanks to Chris for the company.

It's raining stars! This shot shows star trails which are made due to earth's rotation. This single pic represents 1 hour of night sky. The stars are actually moving from bottom to top due to earth's rotation. This pic is a composite image made from 106 shots (like the one I posted earlier) taken over an hour, capturing the movement of heavens above. My first attempt at such a thing.
It was a cloudy night at Bow summit, and I was the only person there to observe the dramatic sky, soon after these clouds were gone, I started to take my star trail photos, but at this moment, I felt something totally different in my life, a lonely star gazing hour, emotional, poetic, and unbelievable.
Stars will light the sky...Stars will lead the way. Captured at The Hard Rock casino Hollywood Florida.

Star-Trails from atop Mt. Rinjani, Seneru Crater Rim, Lombok, Indonesia!
The stroke is an actual shooting star
The photo was taken in Manikata, Malta. Some light lasers pointing into the sky from Popeye's village illuminated the clouds and the surroundings. Although at first I thought this would ruin the shot, it turned out to give a nice effect overall. (For anyone intending to go next to the tower....you need a 4x4 because the road is very bumpy).
The photo is made up of 125 individual photos, each taken over 20 seconds...so about 42 minutes in total.
