Motivet föreställer Gustav Vasa till häst när han rider in i Stockholm den 24 juni 1523. Det var ett välkänt motiv för Carl Larsson och hade målats av Johan Gustaf Sandberg i Vasakoret i Uppsala domkyrka. I sin version låter Larsson Gustav Vasa komma ridande på en vit häst när han tas emot av Stockholms borgare vid den södra stadsporten. Borgarna överlämnar stadens nycklar. Gustav Vasa befinner sig mitt i motivet när han rider över en vindbrygga dekorerad med blommor och girlander. Bakom sig har han sin armé. I den första skissen från 1891 bär Gustav Vasa renässansdräkt med barett och rider på en svart häst; i den andra skissen från 1904 bär kungen rustning, bär krona på huvudet och rider på en vit häst.[1]

The Cavalier Town Gate was the keystone in the construction of the fortification around Kalmar. It was completed 1697.

Midt gjennem hanken og lokket er en sylindrisk pipe, som paa oversiden lukkes av et litet hvæl- vet skilt, der kan skyves tilside. Lokkets tvermaal 39 cm.; panden litt mindre. 24 cm. høi. (1910: 122). Farvelagt tuschtegning av âBriggen Wenskab", Capt. Herman Friele 1796. Brun ramme. 36 x 30.5. (1910: 126). Stol av ask og bjerk, med skjoldformet ryg, Hippelwhites stil. Ryggens ramme har langsgaaende furer, midtstykket gjennem- brutte utskjæringer. Sætet er trukket med brunt skind; buet forkant. Ballusterformete ben. 96 cm. høi. Nu indkjøpt fra Søndhord- land; sikkert byarbeide. (1910: 126). Stort, sirkelrundt hulfat av kobber med lavt fotstykke; to utstaaende ører i kanten. 43 cm. i tvermaal. Bergen. (1910: 127). 5 smaa kakeformer av hamret kob- ber. 7â8 cm. tvermaal i randen. Bergen. (1910: 127). Liten finert kommode (dukkekom- mode?) 34.5 cm. høi, 49.5 cm. lang og 23.5 cm. bred, med 3 skuffer. Overplate og sidevægger har indlagt rombeornament i flere slags træ. Bergen. (1910: 127). 2 glas pokaler av slank form med høi, profilert og fasetslepet stilk og utsvunget kalk. Kalken har en matslepet rokokokartouche med navn. Paa den ene staar: Diederich Lampe, paa den anden: Maren Lampe. Lokket har opbuet midtparti med høi, spidst avsluttet knop. 30 cm. høi. Bergen. (1910: 134). Nøkleharpe med tilhørende bue. For længere tid siden indkjøpt fra det nordlige Norge. Nu i meget god stand. (1910: 149). Gammelt tæppe av sort klæde, 1.84 x 2.94 m.; paa den ene side er en 30 cm. bred, enkel hvit bord, paa den anden side en 10 cm. bred hvit bord og hjerteformete applicationer i hjør- nene.
