HSS happy slide sunday

This is my initial post for a group called "Sliders Sunday", get it "sliders" as in the adjustment sliders in photo editing software. Sounds like my kind of group, considering I slide everything. Anyway, In truth not sure I love this image, have been sitting on it for some time, but felt it fit the group because I slid the living hell out of this one, and I wanted to make my presence felt in the group, I mean if it is about sliding, then lets slide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)))

This was my favorite shot from last week's winter storm in Sedona. Steve Flowers and I spent New Years morning at Slide Rock State Park and when the storm started to break, the conditions were quite magical. I've never seen so much snow in the canyon. It was crazy cool.

I put this warning on one of my other 'barley dog' shots - be very careful if you want a picture of your dog in a barley field - the barley ears can be lethal to animals. They can hook into the skin & migrate through the body - a friends dog had to have an op to remove one that was heading towards his heart & I have read of dogs having to have legs amputated. Paddy is sitting in a 'tram line' in this pic & is not actually in the barley

Another day about done from the park. Thanks for looking and may your day be smooth!

Apparently I keep capturing droplets - but they´re soooo pretty, aren´t they? ;-)

Have a nice and shiny day my dear friends!!!

Each time i visit this area ther is a new slide area on the mountain s side ......

The rocky outcrops of the Canadian Shield on the shores of George Lake gently slide into the water as the sun sets. Killarney Provincial Park. As I sat here on my perch watching the lake at sunset I marvelled at the thought of the powers that shaped this landscape. If you enjoy my fine art landscape photography please view my new and updated website courtesy of Smugmug at www.robertgreatrixphotography.ca. The new look templates are awesome.

Belated Slide for Sliders Sunday ... A view taken in our new garden with a bit of artistic magic in the way of a reflection and other twiddly bits.

Another busy week in our new home and location. Boxes are gradually getting emptied ... Phone calls made ... Garden dug ... Exploring the local area ... Soo glad we moved here.

Quick pit stop in our fave cafe today - online mid week hopefully. Have a great week all xxx

Could you whisper in my ear

The things you wanna feel

I'd give you anythin'

To feel it comin'

Do you wake up on your own

And wonder where you are?

You live with all your faults

I wanna wake up where you are

I won't say anything at all

So why don't you slide

Yeah, I'm gonna let it slide

Don't you love the life you killed?

The priest is on the phone

Your father hit the wall

Your ma disowned you

Don't supposed I'll ever know

What it means to be a man

It's somethin' I can't change

I'll live around it

I wanna wake up where you are

I won't say anything at all

So why don't you slide

Ooh, slide

And I'll do anythin' you ever dreamed to be complete

Little pieces of the nothin' that fall

Oh, May

Put your arms around me

What you feel is what you are

And what you are is beautiful

Oh, May

Do you wanna get married Or run away?

And I'll do anythin' you ever dreamed to be complete

Little pieces of the nothin' that fall

Oh, May

Put your arms around me

What you feel is what you are

And what you are is beautiful

Oh, May

Do you wanna get married

Or run away?

I wanna wake up where you are

I won't say anything

And I'll do anythin' you ever dreamed to be complete

(Yeah, slide)

Little pieces of the nothin' that fall

(Yeah, slide)

And I'll do anythin' you ever dreamed to be complete

(Yeah, slide)

Little pieces of the nothin' that fall

(Oh, oh slide)

Yeah, slide between the sheets of all them beds you never knew

(Yeah, slide)

Why don't you slide into my room

Just slide into my room

Oh, we'll run away, run away, run away.................

Geologic Wonders - The Devil's Slide

The Devil‘s Slide is one of the more unusual natural form-ations along the wall of Weber Canyon, in Utah. There, two limestone layers, tilted to near vertical, rise 40 feet above the canyon wall with 25 feet separating them. Looking like a large playground slide fit only for the Devil, this site is a tilted remnant of sediments deposited in a sea that occupied Utah‘s distant geologic past. About 170 to 180 million years ago, a shallow sea originating from the north spread south and east over areas of what are now Montana, Wyoming, and Utah. This sea extend as far east as the present-day Colorado River and south into northern Arizona. Over millions of years, massive amounts of sediment accumulated and eventually formed layers of limestone and sandstone. In northern Utah, these rocks are know as the Twin Creeks Formation and are approximately 2700 feet thick. About 75 million years ago, folding and faulting during a mountain-building episode tilted the Twin Creek rock layers to a near-vertical position. Subsequent erosion of softer material has exposed the near vertical limestone layers and created Devil‘s Slide.

This photo was taken on 5-18-14 it is on the West Fork Trail part of Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona,AZ.

On 5-20-14 a fire started in the Slide Rock area which is also part of Oak Creek Canyon. Report's that the fire has cross into West Fork and it is now at 5,000 ACRES that have burned. Sadly this is some of the most beautiful land that is on fire. SAD

After a couple of hours of walking in the snow shooting some pictures, I see this man just sliding by in the peacefull white... the framing was just right, with the mountain in the background and the trees for some contrast... He just continued skying, and I had what I was looking for...

An Iowa Northern sand hopper train sliding by the historic Rock Island train depot (now a bank) in downtown Cedar Falls, Iowa at the tail end of a 8.5" snowfall. I just happened to hear some vague scanner traffic and put 2 and 2 together realizing they were going to come down this now long spur thru town in the snow. Sorry RSM I would have called but ran outta the place so fast I forgot my cel phone

My little one enjoying the sand at Cadiz Dunes, near Amboy, California.
