It was a bright sunny afternoon. This bird was silhouetted in the sparkling water, and I closed down my lens as much as possible. I could see the bird with my eyes and knew it was there, but couldn't actually see it through the camera because it was drowned out by the light on the water. So I took a bunch of pictures hoping to get a good one. This is one of the actual photographs except for the bird's eye which I created with one of the sparkles. I did add some color and contrast, but this is a real picture and not a composite - something I don't often post. By the way, the Flickr location function is not accurate. This was taken at the Parker River Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island and not Little Neck, Ipswich.
This image was taken in Morristown, Tn on Enka Highway. It was a foggy morning, which made the sun very blurred and added a great effect to the silhouette I thought,

I found these wild thistles growing on the remains of the old limestone quarry here. Some of the shapes and silhouettes are almost alien looking.

I'm overwhelmed by your wonderful response to my picture. You don't know how much I appreciate all the comments and faves. As many of you know, I'm still hunkered down in my foxhole with way too much work so it's difficult for me to sneak out to Flickr right now. I'll do my best to return your visits and check out your photos as soon as I can.
Some people have a weakness for beautiful women. Some people like fast cars. Me, I seem to have a tendency towards silhouetted trees on empty fields...
While I'm out searching for a cure, here is the latest addition to what may become my little series of silhouettes.
