Up early & being the first time I have been out in weeks, it was a struggle. Special thanks for Mario (aka Space Cadet3) for the 5am wake up call and the invite ; )
Anyway a short trip north at Manly's Cabbage Tree Bay, I met up with Mario to chat & occassionally take a photo.
The subjects are Mario at work & the distinctive "Oceanids" sculptures at Fairy Bower ocean pool
BTW, check out Mario's work www.flickr.com/photos/mariobekes/
Silhouettes of people watching fishes at Sea Life Sydney Aquarium.
One of the largest aquariums in the world and regarded as one of Sydney's premier tourist attractions.
I need to revisit this place as I did not have much time when I was there.
Have a great Sat/Sunday!
Always a popular tree on a walk along the Cranfleet cut from Trent lock and with a beautiful Pastel sky behind it would have been rude not to....
I've limited myself to short walks close to home whilst I recover from a dreadful dose of Shingles, which has made its home on my head... So most of my recent uploads will be from a 5 mile circuit...

4 out of 5 silhouettes for the week isn't bad right? I'll save up and try again when I know I can make it the whole week.
A friend of mine from back in high school is also a photographer (in Colorado) and when I found she was back in town, I invited her over for a visit. We didn't have to go far to find this park where we wandered around with our tripods. Intending for the night to be filled with light painting, we found we were perfectly happy to just take sweet long exposures. I look forward to collaborating with plenty of other photographers in person in the future.
I learned how to do this today from Gavin Hoey on Adorama TV. I showed the video to my wife, and asked if she wanted to do it, and she found a translucent umbrella, and here's our result. Here's the link to that wonderful video

I will explain how I did it, but Gavin does a much better job of it on his video. I've been watching Gavin on YouTube long before he went to work for Adorama. I've always referred to the videos there as the University of YouTube.
Lit with one bare SB600 pointed at a white background which was about three feet behind the subject. Strobe was in manual mode and triggered by the pop up flash on my D90 in commander mode.
I have an entire set comprised of silhouette pictures that can be seen here. Imagine the excitement .......

Pictures of mine that have been on Explore can be seen here, and if someone could explain to me how and why a particular picture gets on Explore I'd love to be enlightened. Science is baffled. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157618630302105/
