Be aware of mountain-bikers!
You see them more and more, and they coming down the hills/mountains at great speed, not always paying attention to the people who walk there, most of the time the same path is used….
It is the first time I noticed this sign.
Cast iron signpost, outside Boughrood, Powys.
Above and below the remaining finger post are two that have been removed. At least one of these would have been to the railway station that was lost during the decimation of the network in the 1960s.
Alternatively they were just knocked off over time; cast iron is not very bouncy..
Signs of Fall acorns and falling leaves are every where now and will soon be piled high, found in North Carolina.
An anonymous & equally ubiquitous motel sign looms over the horizon in Havre, MT.
I make no apologies. I like signs. I like to photograph signs. The older the sign, the crustier the sign, the more interesting the sign...the better. Northern Montana has an abundance of old sings. I will finally be able to work on my "Letters of the Alphabet" set of photographs.

From a slide I was given that needed extensive restoration.
Over the years I've acquired a few slides from friends & family, which sadly have mostly been too far gone to see again as they have spent decades in a loft (or worse a shed) getting baked in the Summer & frozen in Winter.
Back to this one, the colours were bleached out, and I gave up on keeping them and processed it as a monochrome. This one was so bad, it took me a while to see which way round it should be! The cardboard mount had started to rot, and the only thing I could read was Kowloon, 1959. If anyone knows any more about this street scene, I'd be very interested to know.
This is actually a lovely tasting bar (which yes we did try!) but the sign is not to be read out loud before the watershed (which in the UK is 21:00) ..

Where I'm working now, there are a lot of old manufacturing facilities. It's pretty obvious that the glory days of manufacturing are gone. The jobs, of course, are largely gone too. This sign just seems to sum it all up.
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign

you can see one of the goats in the background. There was no horse, this was an old sign from when there was a horse.
