Slowly the buds and blooms, then the bees arrive, and almost within a day, the flowers are done, petals fall and the leaves have come. The tree is strong, it waits, it grows, and in time, a new cycle is begun. Will I always be a tree, or will you show me how, to be, all I can be.

Two mallard drakes show off their flying skills to a duck during a flight over Bushy Park duckpond.

I added a texture - one of mine added to Bruised Ego by SkeletalMess - to counter the white sky.

I had to copy/paste the aircraft on the very top - it was already out of frame - these things are fast!

Captured today at South Coast Botanic Garden, where they had a Jaguar show on the upper meadow. This red classic caught my eye, and the back of the mirror gave a view of the show. (Zuiko 50mm macro, f/8, 1/100 sec., ISO 100, morning sun, handheld)

A pot of tiny, Iris reticulata 'Katherine Hodgkin' (, blooming just in time for the opening of the Spring Bulb Show at Smith's Lyman Conservatory this coming weekend. :)

Between shows at some of the pavillions, they continue to play music and the kids just get up and dance on the stage. This boy really got into it, and had some fancy moves too. A natural performer.

A 6 shot Pano from the last day of Winter in Coalcliff NSW. Left some of the guys in the shot to show scale and basically what a superb pastime we share. This was taken arond 15 mins before sunrise, and what a magical time it was. Hope you like "Show Me Heaven". Cheers, Mike

The Moab 20th action car show was great fun. We arrived early as the cars where rolling into the park. Over 500 classic cars, street rods, muscle cars, rat rods and everything in between. I prefer to see and hear them in motion rather than with the hood up on display.

I'm heading back to Vegas next week for CES (Consumer Electronics Show). I'm pretty excited, the show is kind of like Disneyland for engineers and gadget geeks (me), and the fact it's in Vegas only makes it better (at least to me). Now I just need to figure out everything I want to see, the show floor is huge, covering the whole convention center and many of the exhibition spaces in nearby hotels. Let me know if there is something I should make an effort to see.

This photo is from a trip I took a year or two ago. The anticipation of my upcoming trip made me want to dig into my Vegas photo archives, and I decided to process this one. I took this after a tough day at the blackjack table, I needed a break from the casino, so I went up to the Eiffel Tower observation deck.

coming soon to the home show!

There is always one flamingo who seems to stand out in a crowd. What a strut he/she has! Definitely an alpha creature! As always, I seem obsessed with showing you pictures of a safari in the order of the itinerary so pardon if there is a little repetition of the same type of wildlife.

I was actually out doing a senior portrait session when this storm moved into the area. We had been at the beach most of the evening and I had been pushing to get as many portraits squeezed in as possible before we had to call it a night.

A quick jog to the car to drop off my portrait stuff, grab my landscape gear & tripod, and I was back out on the beach just in time for the light show to start.

This was some of the craziest and most frequent lightning I have ever seen! Other than 2 other people, I was the only person out on the beach for as far as I could see. It was a fantastic storm to witness and I am so excited to have been in an area to catch the lightning with such a fun local place in the foreground - the redington long pier.

Thousands of people lined the highway, stood on overpasses, and waited to show their respect for a young Marine killed by a terrorist in Chattanooga, Tennessee earlier this week. Atop this overpass, a fence is in place to keep pedestrians from falling off the bridge and to keep persons from throwing objects onto the highway. Undaunted, many people carefully rolled their smaller flags so that they could place them through the mesh in order to wave to show their respect during the passing funeral procession.

A friend came to visit for the weekend I had the pleasure of showing him the sights in and around T.O. Off again to High Park for the sakura and zoo. This lovely fellow was kind enough to make the long trip down to the fence and strut his stuff for our waiting cameras. You'da thunk he was competing in a pageant the way he primped then turned slowly 360° so we could take it all in. Thanks Mr. Peacock, that tiara is going to look FAB on you.

He's still quite brown in spots but I assume he'll green-ify come summer. (totally guessing and making that up)

Having a little clear out on the hard drive and found this from an old farmhouse thats now gone. Was showing the whole long exposure thing to a fellow explorers daughter on a quick detour visit. Must admit that kitchen wasnt the best place to swing a few led's about!
