We just got almost two feet of snow in CT.

Not so close tonight

Well I am really milking this one. I think I have just about posted every pose this Owl gave me! Hardly been out at all lately due to the sh***y weather and too much work :(

Short-eared Owl in Orange County

It's short, it's hot, and way overpowered. It's the ZDLCYP (Delano, CA to Cheyenne, WY Expedited Perishables). The hot trains from the former Railex facility in Delano, to Cheyenne, WY, where the cars are added to a longer perishable train that runs to Selkirk Yard in upstate New York. It's not the long PFE reefer trains that pounded over the mountains during the 20th Century, but it's still living out the long tradition of hauling produce from the Central Valley to eastern markets.

I used "Shorty" pencil and bits of watercolor in Moleskine. I need to find Shorty lead sharpener, because its getting all rounded and I can't carry piece of sand paper with me all the time. But I really like that pencil is light, fat and friendly.

Short eared owl in Leicestershire, taken in February. Looking for older pics for a rainy day ( or rainy month ! ) I realised I've lost almost all of my owl pictures, DOH ! It doesn't really matter cuz I posted about a hundred on Flickr at the time, so they still exist in some form. God I hope the owls come back for the winter, someone said last year was the first time they'd wintered here in 4 years, please come back !!

I'm hoping to get a new lens soonish and I wondered if anyone had any advice or experience with the one I'm looking at. I was gonna save up ( for several years probably ) to get a Canon 500 or even 600mm prime but now I like the idea of getting a fast 300 or 400mm and using teleconverters. It'd be a lot cheaper and flexible I reckon. I really like the look of the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 IS USM to use with Canon teleconverters but I'm not technically minded and would welcome any help !! It's an awful lot of money for me so I'd better make the right decision !

I got this one today just after getting the frame of the Kestrel

How's this Monte...

I usually do not post back to back frames of the same venue but I am so eager to share I couldn't help myself.

Thanks for indulging me my friends.

Make it a great week ahead, you know the drill, it's a choice.

My motto if anyone cares..(probably not) is to always try to find a blessing in adversity...Thus the choice!

A shot from the archives. I am going to miss not having such easy access to these awesome owls this winter!
