Hakata Oshima Ohashi, It's fast flowing as the river under this bridge. Thank you,

Shimanami Kaido, Innoshima Bridge

しまなみ海道・因島大橋

I've back from short trip.

This channel is Setonaikai

that separate Honsyu and Shikoku islands.

I visited Hiroshima, Yamaguchi etc. this holidays

with my car CX-5 (2.2D).

Fuel efficiency is over 18km/L (include highway),

and it's possible to run more than 900km once of refueling.

In addition, Hiroshima is home place of Mazda.

Spring in Japan at its finest, and I was extremely lucky to be here on such a perfect day to see it. I had just finished crossing the Shimanami Kaido by bike and, having finished a little early, decided to head to Matsuyama even though it wasn't on my list of places to go. I was lucky to have my finest cherry blossom (sakura) experience of the year there.

The sakura begin to bloom the last week of March, hit full bloom a week later at the beginning of April, and then within another week are almost entirely gone. Many Japanese people feel the beautiful but ultimately short life of the cherry blossoms symbolizes the beauty but fragility of life. In Japan, April 1st is when new schools, jobs, and other big life changes tend to start, and so sakura also have an image of being associated with a "new life". In Japanese design, sakura are often used to symbolize one of the above two ideas.

Sunset from the highest point on the Kaido - from here you can see Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu, as well as the Kurushima-Kaikyō, the world's longest suspension bridge structure.

Not only daytime, the sunset and the night scene

can be also enjoyed here.

@Hakata-jima , EHIME. JAPAN.  March, 2015

We walked through halls that were literally decorated with gold. To check out the details of the art in the hall, decluttr.

It was incredible to be allowed to enter and photograph such buildings That are typically closed to the public. We all mentioned that we wished we could just sit, listen to the rain and enjoy the moment for a while in here but with our security escort watching us like a hawk, lounging was out of the question. More info on this shoot.

Another shot from Kousanji Temple. The buildings in the back hit with a 500 lumen torch, the inside of the hall lit with a 160 lumen torch, and the squares made with ELwire.

The Kurushima-Kaikyō Bridge as seen from the Kirosantenbo Park viewpoint – easy for you to say!

From Wikipedia: “The Kurushima-Kaikyō Bridge (来島海峡大橋 Kurushima Kaikyō Ō-hashi), which connects the island of Ōshima to the main part of Shikoku, is the world's longest suspension bridge structure and was completed in 1999. The bridge is part of the Shimanami Kaidō, an expressway that spans a series of islands and connects Hiroshima Prefecture in Honshū to Ehime Prefecture in Shikoku. The bridge and the expressway were both conceived by the Honshū-Shikoku Bridge Project.”

Many more impressive bridges along this route.
