Roads are really bad in San Francisco. Here's a section of a popular bike commute route to Caltrain.

The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition had a ride last week where people put "crater monster" stencils in bright colors on dangerous patches of road. They also made stencils that suggest calling 311 to get these fixed, but the road surface is so messed up that they're not easy to read.

Roads are bad in San Francisco, and some Bicycle Coalition activists have marked trouble spots with "crater monster" stencils as a warning. I tried to hop over this very rail, miscalculated, and ended up flatting my tire.

That was 9 years ago. It would be nice to have this bit of road repaired.

Marking more potholes, though the pavement is generally falling apart, on northbound Masonic going by the Blood Center. Because of the poor pavement and high speeds of traffic on Masonic I sometimes ride on the sidewalk on this block. There are few pedestrians around and I go slow.
