If you want to live an authentic, meaningful life, you need to master the art of disappointing und upsetting others, hurting feelings, and living with the reality that some people just won`t like you.

It may not be easy, but it`s essential if you want your life to reflect your deepest desires, values, and needs.

This is my Hate Submission to #AdamsPhotoChallenge Theme: Love/Hate

“As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth. Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”.

As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody if I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this person was me. Today I call it “RESPECT”.

As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life, and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow. Today I call it “MATURITY”.

As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance, I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens at the exactly right moment. So I could be calm. Today I call it “SELF-CONFIDENCE”.

As I began to love myself I quit stealing my own time, and I stopped designing huge projects for the future. Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in my own rhythm. Today I call it “SIMPLICITY”.

As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything that drew me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude a healthy egoism. Today I know it is “LOVE OF ONESELF”.

As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since I was wrong less of the time. Today I discovered that is “MODESTY”.

As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worrying about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where everything is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”.

As I began to love myself I recognized that my mind can disturb me and it can make me sick. But as I connected it to my heart, my mind became a valuable ally. Today I call this connection “WISDOM OF THE HEART”.

We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing new worlds are born. Today I know “THAT IS LIFE”!”

"Thank you very much for all your faves and stay healthy" :-)

SELF is the great idol which is the rival of God, and which divides with Him the worship of the human race. It is surprising and affecting to think how much SELF enters into almost all we do. Besides the grosser form of self-righteousness, which leads many unconverted people actually to depend upon their own doings for acceptance with God; how much of . . .

there is in many converted ones!

How covertly do some seek their own praise in what they professedly do for God, and their fellow-creatures! How eager are they for the admiration and applause of their fellow-creatures! How much of self, yet how little suspected by themselves--is seen by One who knows them better than they know themselves, at the bottom of their most splendid services, donations, and most costly sacrifices!

In how many ways does self steal away the heart from God! How subtle are its workings, how concealed its movements, yet how extensive is its influence. How SELF . . .

perverts our motives,

lowers our aims,

corrupts our affections, and

taints our best actions!

How much incense is burned--and how many sacrifices are offered on the altar of this idol!

"Little children, keep yourselves from idols!" 1 John 5:21

Stepping outside the box. Self portraits are not always easy to do. My friend Joan, one of the bravest people I know, and I are posting a series of self portraits. This is #1 of #3.

Thanks Joan for inspiring me.

Of my crops of fruit and grain,

Of my woods and furrowed plain,

Claim thy tithings right and left,

I shall never call it theft.

Many of us have done that, mentally that is, even before Corona-Virus popped up. Treating the thoughts of 'the other' like a virus and being eager to self-inoculate us against ideas declared to be 'alien', is the unfortunate result of a narrowing of the mind. And I have not even begun to contemplate the historical record of people themselves being identified with the virus.

One LED lamp.

These are difficult times. I feel like we are in a bad movie and I can't wait for it to end.

My heart goes out to those who are affected in some way and suffering from this Corona virus. At the time that I post this, most people are affected in some way.

I am self isolating with the hope that sometime in the near future the world can return to a semblance of what it was a few months ago.

Stay safe everyone.

For MM this week I decided to use my little Kodak Retinette.. The self timer lever on this camera still works :o) not bad for a camera over 50 years old.

It's challenging but I'm enjoying shooting with this little camera, and look forward to seeing my images.

HMM :o)

I see... the way you're always searching. How much you hate anything fake or phony. How you're older than your years, but still... playful, like a little girl. How you're always looking into people, or wondering what they see when they look back at you. Your eyes. It's all in the eyes. -Claudia Gray

while it's SO good to be home today, after traveling for 10 days and then a week of being evacuated from our local firestorms, a little piece of me is still back in Djupavik, gazing down the fjord... i can't wait to go back.

Took it a while back when I was in Japan. I was really excited about taking photos in the snow but it never snowed :(. More photos to come!

As I stood at the view point overlooking the boiling mud pools at the Namafjall Geothermal Area viewpoint, I noticed my shadow projecting onto the steam with a small circular rainbow. Hverir, Myvatn, North Iceland.

~Self Reflection~

who are you?

you look so familiar.

mirrors are tools,

you are a tool,

reflect my light.

i see so clearly,

i see my light

ever so faint.

reflect myself towards the moon,

i speak to the sun --

i speak to myself.

i speak to the moon --

i speak to a mirror.

you're a real illusion.
