playing with the strobe off-camera, everything is fair game. sb26 off camera, wide angle lens with the strobe set to 85mm for that snoot effect.

A water drop colliding with the rising column of water from a previous drop.

The drop solution was a mixture of water, orange juice (for an opaque drop appearance), and blue food coloring. Dripped from a DIY mariotte siphon 24 inches above the frying pan full of water. I held a cup under the drip-stream to keep a smooth and ripple-free surface, then removed when picture is taken.

SB-26 @ 1/64 power above drop zone, aimed at a white background [bounced off], fired via SB-600 on camera at 1/64 power.

Explored! #270 on Tuesday, January 19

Autofriedhof (car cemetery) in Kaufdorf, Kanton Bern, Switzerland.

In the mid '70s the scrapyard's owner planned to make it into an openair museum but nothing came of it and the collection was left to rust in peace.

This summer it has been turned into an installation by about 20 artists and a walkway has been built over the top of the more dense parts.

This particular shot was inspired by Lost in America's fantastic set of scrapyard night shots. It's well worth checking out.

Strobist info: an SB-26 (1/8 power, set to wide angle with a CTO gel) was placed on the driver's seat facing the roof or what was left of it.

I made this for my beautiful girlfriend Leslie :-)

I'd bring you the moon and then some. Mwah!

Tried something new today, with a two colored background. I'm very happy with it though I wish it were more straight.

This is a collision of two water drops. First, a drop falls from a mariotte siphon, strikes the water, and forms a spout. A drop is then launched from the top of the spout. This is when a second falling drop collides with the rising drop, causing it to spread outwards.

This time it will be a wedding photoshoot with very simple lighting setup, one I’ve been using on locations quite a lot, and still am when I am! For this shot I’m using only one shoot-through umbrella, balancing it with the ambient light I have to create some soft light on m model!

Nikon SB-26 in a Ring Flash Adapter for some fill - Camera Right (maybe not that significant in this case)

Nude Nikon SB-26 with an Blue Gel - Behind her, pointed at the white backdrop. (For some of the shots in the album I'm using gradient colors with 2 flashes)

I'm with Photix Atlas on the camera, Beauty Dish flash and Ring flash have a Pocket Wizard II Plus attached.

Background Nikon SB-26 is triggered by Optical slave

I really loved the idea of my friends and it was so interesting to do that shoot. They spent a couple of hours fixing all the straws on her head, and painting her skin in the colorful stripes, and I spent that time thinking how to lit her in that situation. Actually the photoshoot lasted only about 20 minutes! As a background I had a 1.3 meter wide white backdrop, but shooting her on white was not what we wanted to do, so I thought that we play with some gels for the background.

But let me first talk about the key light, that was the first time I was using a Beauty Dish for my photoshoots! And actually this beauty dish was a DIY one, made by my friend Darren, and I got it as a present from him! He literally used a dish to make it, and it is really awesome piece of light modifier, a proof that even without spending lots of money you can create interesting things! I was also using a fill flash behind her with a Ring Flash, but it doesn't play that significant role in all of the shots here, anyway it's there!

SB26: bounce off the ceiling

Brownish orange plastic bag as a CTO gel substitute.

Once again, ghetto style. Since I’m still waiting for my cactus trigger (and other equipments) to arrive, I have to release the flash myself (had to use very low shutter speed, of course). I noticed in the middle of the shooting that the strings and the frets looked too new (despite the fact that the guitar is old) because of their reflective quality. So I thought of an idea of using the CTO (color temperature orange) gel to tone them down altogether. Wait a minute, I don’t have a CTO. My order is still on its way. So, I ended up covering my strobe with a brownish orange plastic bag. It worked wonderfully. The whole piece looks nice and old.

Ok, time to separate the men from the boys. Rembrandt was one of the most influential painters in European history, and he is definitely one of my favorites.

He is known for his amazing ability to light. How could I not love him! In fact there is a whole school of lighting called "Rembrandt lighting" This man had it all figured out over 400 years ago, and the principles he came up with still hold true as gold.

Shooting with stroboscopic photos can be quite easy if your strobes actually have Multi mode, but what if they do not support it, and they are just some manual flashes? This is what I will write in this post, it is a dance stroboscopic shoot, and for it I use only manual way to fire my flashes! And something more, for this stroboscopic shot I will be mixing ambient light and strobe light, to create some cool motion effect in it, could say it’s all DIY, using what I had around me! マルチモードあるストロボ使って、マルチ発光撮影するのが簡単ですか、もしそんなストロボ持ってなかったら撮れるのか?この記事では完全にマニュアルでマルチの撮り方を見せます!
