Last time I put this up, years ago, I was really stingy and made it tiny. Here it is big and full of jubilance.

Peace Tower and the Friendship Bridge which sit below the summit of a 1,359 foot granite hill known as Mt Rubidoux, Riverside California. Built 1925.

This was the sky that day.

Worth the 2 mile hike at 5am for this view.

It turned into a gloomy day. My favorite kind.

This is a Peleng shot.

Someday, I will get the best possible shot from here. People will be, like, "who do we call for the best picture of that tower place?" And then someone else will cry, "call Lowenbach! He has the picture you want, by gum!" Until then, I'll enjoy getting there. This is probably shot #80. I've shot here in rain and shine, summer and winter, sunrise, sunset, and the dark of night. Today was the first time I've come up here in 105 degree weather.

She climbed to the top and enjoys the view from up there

Was a beautiful hike tonight on the mountain. The Peace Tower on Mt. Rubidoux is part of a public park run by the city of Riverside, California. I have accurately geotagged this photo in case anyone wants to check it out. Do come in the golden hour and be ready for a couple miles of uphill walking.

Since the idea of the EPM-1 is to travel extremely light, I wanted to see if mine could make a passable handheld HDR. I guess it can. It cranks out a respectable FPS because there is no inertia from a moving mirror assembly to overcome. And it can be set to bracket up to 7 frames in a variety of different ev steps.

So if you want to annoy your friends with HDR, this little guy can help you accomplish that.

Still, if I am shooting in anger, I'll be there with a tripod and a cable release.

I went back and reshot this so that the road and river would show.

Hiking along the switchback on Mt Rubidoux the clouds forming were getting better as the day went on.

The end of a pretty decent day.

A beautiful start to a day.

In a couple of months she'll be green again

The second in the series of two.

Surely this one deserves hitting L on your keyboard for a larger view?

I know I have posted many pictures of this place. Listen, this place adheres to the Duck Rule of Photography: when you see it, you feel like you have to shoot it.

Your only defense is to leave your camera at home. Leave your cell phone too. Because if you see it, you *will* take a picture. Every. Damn. Time. It's like ducks.

We walk the dogs here and I have given up fighting against the Duck Rule of the Peace Tower.

Another EPM-1 snap. This was shot aperture priority +1 stop to compensate for the sun.

The morning after on the River Fire in Jurupa Valley. The sun rises behind a big tree casting shadows along with backlighting the smoke laying low from the fire. Shot at Jurupa Ranch Park in Rubidoux, CA.

A contrast of light and dark, close and far. I love the sunrise!
