Taken in the Delfshaven area of Rotterdam just before the sun broke the horizon. It meant an early rise and an hours walk from my hotel room to get there, but it was well worth it... And I had the rest of the day to relax, sip coffee and watch the world get up and go about the new day!

Taken during a cruise with the fast water taxi.

Rotterdam

Municipality in the Netherlands

Rotterdam is a city and municipality in the Netherlands. It is the second-largest Dutch city after Amsterdam, and is located in the province of South Holland, at the mouth of the Nieuwe Maas channel leading into the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt delta at the North Sea. Its history goes back to 1270, when a dam was constructed in the Rotte, after which people settled around it for safety. In 1340, Rotterdam was granted city rights by the Count of Holland.

The Wilhelminakade in Rotterdam. This is the spot where the cruises from Rotterdam depart and the home spot of the Holland Amerika line (HAL).At the moment of this picture moment it was an empty, rainy Wilhelminakade, but the sunset and combination with the reflections and wet tiles made the picture worth uploading.

The making of the Public Art Depot for the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen (MVRDV architects), featuring exhibition halls, a sculpture roof garden and a restaurant, in addition to an enormous amount of storage space for art. The public can see what’s going on behind the scenes in a museum and private art collectors will be able to store their own collection under ideal museum conditions. The design – a reflective round volume – responds to its surroundings, the Rotterdam’s Museumpark. The building will be completed in 2020, doors will open in 2021.

I took this nightshot two days ago on a short trip from The Hague to Rotterdam. It shows the famous Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam.

The bridge was named after Desiderius Erasmus a.k.a. Erasmus of Rotterdam, a prominent Christian Renaissance humanist. The bridge is 802m long (2,631 ft) and crosses the New Meuse/ Nieuwe Maas. The Bridge also has a Nickname: "The Swan".

This is the first shot of a mini series of pictures from my recent trip to the Netherlands...😀

Mist over Rotterdam

Colour version

Not many times it happens that I get a view like this, I guess once or twice a year. And then there is the problem of the dirty windows. Finally, today, after such a long time, I managed to get the picture I wanted. The silence in the mist high above Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Noise removal has been used, not only for the noise, but also to enchant the atmosphere a photographer feels when working with the fog.

Also I'd like to point out that we do not always need the most expensive equipment to take a picture like this, it has been taken with a simple point and shoot camera, so, beginners, don't let the high prices of expensive stuff get you down on taking on you're hobby and interest in photography! Did you know with what camera that the winning photo of the world wildlife photographer of the year contest was made? Check it out! Gracias Tim!

I hope you all enjoy our weather scene of this week.

The Maastunnel is a tunnel in Rotterdam connecting the banks of the Nieuwe Maas. About 75,000 motor vehicles and a large number cyclists and pedestrians use the tunnel daily, making the Maastunnel an important part of Rotterdam's road network. Building commenced in 1937 and finished in 1942.

The length of the Maastunnel is 1373 metres (including access roads). The underground part is 1070 metres long. The lowest point of the tunnel is approximately 20 meters below sealevel. Above ground, the tunnel's location can be recognized by its characteristic ventilation buildings on both sides of the river.

Architecture , Colossus , Rotterdam

For those who have noticed.

Last week I've made a subtile remark in my upload that maybe, just maybe, it's time for architectural pictures. And I mean, heavy, modern , architectural shots.

Not my main idea, but one has to go with the flow, and some of you may know that my working location is not in the forests.

Sometimes one gets tired of working around the buildings to photograph a little piece of nature. So my friends, here it is, a new serie. Because it's rather new to me, comments and critiques are very welcome. Need to learn a lot, but my friends, I've got the scene covered.

I work in Rotterdam!

Veerhaven Rotterdam

De Veerhaven is a little port or marina in the center of Rotterdam, on the river Nieuwe Maas. It is the home and passant port for seagoing sailing ships with a historic character and is also a passant port for sailing inland vessels and seagoing yachts.

One of the most beautiful places in Rotterdam

De Veerhaven is situated in the Scheepvaartkwartier and is also known by many as one of the most beautiful places in Rotterdam. The character of the former historic city is still present at this location. Because of its beautiful location and facilities, the Veerhaven receives many ships from the large, international sailing trade within its gates. In addition, it functions as a port of call for sailing ships that pass through Rotterdam for a few days. The Veerhaven is also the base of several maritime events.
