Another example of the grand historiic architecture in the heart of the village.

Riverside is believed to be the first planned community in the United States. This Chicago suburb was designed in 1869 by celebrated landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted and his partner, Calvert Vaux, who hoped to create a community with a pastoral feel in an urban setting. Instead of planning the community's streets in a grid layout, they planned the streets to follow the area's natural contours. Streets follow the Des Plaines River, and continue from there to wind all through the Village.
This place is seriously charming, and full of historic homes and landmarked properties. If interested, more info here:

Some lake enhanced snow falls as a pair of BNSF switchers spot tank cars at the Tate & Lyle plant in Duluth's Riverside neighborhood.
One of those "iconic" shots that I've been wanting to take for while, the mill wheel at Port Orleans Riverside. I also used LR5 for processing, and I really like it so far.
I'm still alive... just been occupied elsewhere. This was taken back in August on my first visit to the new Riverside Museum. (Who needs HDR, eh?)

Have a nice week end dear friends!
In 2012 The Riverside Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. At 120th Street and Riverside Drive, across the street form Grants Tomb in the Morningside Heights section of Manhattan, I'm not sure why this church where Martin Luther King Jr. voiced once voiced his opposition to the Vietnam War and Rev. Jesse Jackson gave the eulogy at Jackie Robinson's funeral service took so long to make the Register of Historic Places.
I do know that ever since John D. Rockefeller Jr. built this church it has had a long history of actually relating to the teachings of Christ. It was described by The New York Times in 2008 as "a stronghold of activism and political debate throughout its 75-year history ... influential on the nation's religious and political landscapes." In other words, a church for bleeding heart liberals and a must see for any visitors to New York, religion without the Republicans.
