Finland river landscape

Nr Bingley Yorks feb 2017

Taken along a river that is a main source to the Potomac River. Used the 9 Stop ND filter to get this 6 second exposure to smooth out the river and enhance the reflection of the sky.

A mixture of sunlight and clouds produced gorgeous reflections along the River Dodder just downstream from Rathfarnham Bridge, Dublin.

I hate it when we go onto winter time...my body - and our cat Maggie - tell me it's an hour later !!

Old wall that remains along the river from past industry that used to be thriving along this riverbanks until too many floods made it too costly to rebuild ... just to wait for the next flood.

Had a great trip to the Lower Lewis River Falls this morning with Gary Meyers and had this beautiful waterfall all to ourselves. The water has obviously come up a bit in the past week or two, but it's still accessible and in great shape. This spot is a real treat for anyone, and as long as the water level is low enough there seem to be far more compositions to shoot than time to shoot them.

Thanks for viewing and commenting. The Explore selections also help people find me, so I appreciate that as well!

On our hike yesterday in upper Glen Clova. A fantastic isolated glen and a perfect area to spot deer that time of the year - we spotted herds with more than 100 animals. They where literally everywhere (also audible!)

El rio Trancura se encuentra en el Sur de Chile y es uno de los tantos ríos que hay en esta hermosa zona , cerca de la Patagonia, en la cordillera de Los Andes.

Another shot from the bottom of Little River Canyon. If you were wondering, I did get a little wet taking this shot.

Here's an image from my recent Greyton workshop... captured about an hour after sunrise... in the Gobos River Gorge.

Yes I know... the highlights are blown in this photo! That is a cardinal sin to me... I don't enjoy pure-white pixels as much as I enjoy almost any other colour pixels... and I always do my best not to clip the highlights when I capture my images.

Shooting directly into the sun is a very tricky situation to correctly expose for... it's relatively easy within a minute or two after sunrise or before sunset... but when the sun has been up for a while and it's just popped out from behind a white cloud... that situation definitely calls for blending several bracketed images together.

The two photos that I blended together to create this image were exposed a full SEVEN stops apart... it took all my blending skills to get the final image to look more or less what I remember seeing at the time!

I have included the two differently exposed photos that I used to create this image in the comments section below.

The Kawarau River drains Lake Wakatipu, in northwestern Otago, New Zealand. The river flows generally eastwards for about 60 km and passes through the steep Kawarau Gorge until it joins Lake Dunstan near Cromwell. The Shotover River enters it from the north; the Nevis River enters it from the south. Containing many rapids and strong currents, the river can be dangerous and has claimed many lives.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it and

will always try to reciprocate with a visit back to your stream.

And have a great day....evening or afternoon :-)

Back to Canada.

Another favorite place in Alberta. Just so much to love in those Rockies.

"The Mistaya River originates in Peyto Lake (shown in comments), a glacial lake of typical blue colour (due to rock flour). A series of elongated lakes are formed along the river: Mistaya Lake and Waterfowl Lakes.

The river merges into the North Saskatchewan River at Saskatchewan River Crossing."

Getting mighty warm here. Hope not too bad for you.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend!

This morning at Kings River Falls. It would have been nice to have remembered my tripod but I don't think I would have gotten as good a shot as this with the cool green moss in front if I had the camera mounted on the tripod.

Other than very minor fixes this is straight from the camera.

By the way.............the water is really that color.

Florence is the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany and of the province of Florence.

It is the most populous city in Tuscany, with 367,569 inhabitants (1,500,000 in the metropolitan area).

The city lies on the River Arno and is known for its history and its importance in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance, especially for its art and architecture.

A centre of medieval European trade and finance and one of the richest and wealthiest cities of the time, Florence is often considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance; in fact, it has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages.

It was long under the de facto rule of the Medici family.

From 1865 to 1870 the city was also the capital of the Kingdom of Italy.

The river cuts through this island in the Potomac River near Washington, DC. Ice lines the sides of the rocks.

Seeing all the trees down and the large boulders tossed around, this view along this river in Yellowstone gives a sense of the power here by nature ... and the streaming clouds add to that power I think.

The Mistaya River flows under Mt. Sarbach on it's way to it's slot canyon downriver. Another favorite stop along Alberta's spectacular Icefield Parkway.

Sending best wishes, thoughts and prayers to all those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Kananaskis Country was looking really moody the last time I was through there. Maybe it's because winter was one its way.

In the afternoon we went for a pleasant cruise down the Clutha River which was once rich with gold and mines and dredged for many years. Now it is connected to a hydo lake and flows slowly past these trees in their autumn uniform.

Thanks especially if you have a comment to make. Have a good weekend.

This is from Little River Falls on the Canyon rim road. It doesn't look like this is going to be an impressive year for colors but there was some around the canyon today.

The Snoqualmie River above the waterfall is deceptively smooth. Who would know that less than a quarter mile downstream the river would thunder down a 270 foot drop.

Another wonder near my favorite drive on the continent, Alberta's Icefield Parkway.

These teal glacial waters originate in the Peyto Glacier and Peyto Lake, then flow thru the Waterfowl Lakes on their way to the north Saskatchewan river. Mighty pretty country for us photographers….

This section of the river flows into a deep, curvy slot canyon downstream from where I'm standing (shown below).

As always thanks for your visit!
