Richmond is a small town situated near Hobart and is a very historical and pretty place. This bridge was constructed by convict labour and work began back in 1823. The bridge was complete by 1825.

Richmond Falls are a series of waterfalls along the River Swale, they are situated at grid reference NZ173006 near to the town centre of Richmond, North Yorkshire. They are one of, if not the last waterfalls on the Swale before the river reaches the lower country grounds of the Vale of Mowbray, their normally medial size can be affected easily, much like the rest of the Swale, by heavy rain and flooding, making for dramatic viewing.

Richmond Lock spans sides of River Thames close to centre of Richmond in the south western suburbs of London. This Grade II listed structure which serves as a footbridge too, casts a pretty figure against a sunset and is great place to visit. see more at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richmond_Lock_and_Footbridge

The Richmond Bridge is a heritage listed arch bridge located on the B31 ("Convict Trail") in Richmond, 25 kilometres (15.5 mi) north of Hobart in Tasmania, Australia. It is the oldest bridge still in use in Australia[1] and the oldest stone span bridge in Australia.[2] In 2005, the bridge was recognised as an outstanding historic place and added to the Australian National Heritage List.

February 2014

Taken at high tide after the wettest winter on record after 487cm of rainfall. I kept needing to move back as the river flowed out onto the path, however it was quite a gently flow hence the strength of the reflections.

Richmond Bridge is an 18th-century stone arch bridge that crosses the River Thames at Richmond, connecting the two halves of the present-day London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It was designed by James Paine and Kenton Couse.

The bridge, which is a Grade I listed, was built between 1774 and 1777, as a replacement for a ferry crossing which connected Richmond town centre on the east bank with its neighbouring district of East Twickenham to the west. Its construction was privately funded by a tontine scheme, for which tolls were charged until 1859.

Because the river meanders from its general West to East direction, flowing from Southeast to Northwest in this part of London, what would otherwise be known as the North and South banks are often referred to as the "Middlesex" (Twickenham) and "Surrey" (Richmond) banks respectively, named after the historic counties to which each side once belonged.

The bridge was widened and slightly flattened in 1937–40, but otherwise still conforms to its original design. The eighth Thames bridge to be built in what is now Greater London, it is today the oldest surviving Thames bridge in London.

Peace be with you.

The Osprey pair that has been nesting on a crane at Potrero Point in Richmond has been on a new webcam starting this year thanks to the Golden Gate Audubon Society.

Two female Osprey chicks hatched, were banded and named Whirley and Rivet. Whirley was the first to fledge last week and unfortunately the day after she ended up in the water and had to be fished out of the Bay and taken to the wildlife rescue. Her condition was critical and she never recovered. We stopped by the nest that evening to see them and found out when we got home that she didn't make it. RIP Whirley.

Richmond Park, London, 2014

I ventured out for a wander yesterday as the weather was good, first call was my local Greenwich, and then on a whim decided to head to Richmond, and very picture perfect it was too…although mega busy!

First shot to take advantage of the later sunsets following the advent of British Summer Time this year. I think Richmond might be my new favourite location. I never knew how easy it was to get to. Richmond Bridge (1823). Originally named Bigge's Bridge, Richmond Bridge is Australia's oldest bridge still in use. It was built by convicts from sandstone quarried at Butchers Hill and hauled by hand carts to the bridge site. The cutwaters were added in 1884. The bridge is said to be haunted by several ghosts, including Grover, a cruel flagellator.

We went to Richmond last week, and in a charity shop I found a 600 OneStep camera! With film in it! Obviously a few years old, turning yellow as 600 film does, but yay!
