Shot downtown Montreal after leaving work today in the midst of a heavy snow fall. One of many I've now been subjected back into.
The city had a very quiet mood today as it was Jean Beliveau's memorial service just a block behind where this picture was captured. A tranquility even the storm couldn't stir.
On what is becoming my favourite day of the week...
A bit of a primer on Canadian politics. There was an exhibit of little statues and sculptures placed around in the Muttart Conservatory. I walked up to a couple taking pictures of this trio and asked them if it brought back a lot of memories seeing these faces. They turned to me with blank expressions and one of them said: "We are from Finland."
Anyway...
From the left, it's Rene Levesque, Ralph Klein, and Pierre Trudeau.

Cathedral-Basilica of Mary, Queen of the World; built 1870 – 1894. This is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Montreal. The church is a scaled down version of St. Peter’s Basilica. It is the third largest church in Quebec after St. Joseph's Oratory (also in Montreal) and the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré east of Quebec City.
