This is the Seattle skyline as seen from the waterfront just south of Bell Harbor. I have to give Seth Oliver credit for the inspiration for this shot as he is the urban reflection master, so this is a little tribute. Cochem Castle - Cochem, Germany.
Cochem is a town in Rhineland-Palatinate, western part of Germany, and capital of the district Cochem-Zell. It is situated in the valley of the Mosel, at the foot of a hill surrounded by a feudal castle, the Reichsburg, dating from 1051. The town is surrounded by vineyards. The castle of Cochem was first mentioned in year 1130. It was destroyed in 1689, and in 1868, Jakob Louis Ravené purchased it for 300 gold marks and built it in its present form. Since 1978, the city of Cochem owns it.
What a lovely combination - a castle and a river. Cochem is perhaps my favorite castle city that make up the Rhine/Mosel valley. It really is a pleasant place to just sit down, have an ice cream, and enjoy the view, but not necessarily to take night photos. I found it to be very dark especially at the peak of twilight. No details on the bottom of the hill, only shadows. The city was not well lit, and even with a moon that night, it wasn't bright enough to compensate for the lack of light. This was taken at the start of blue hour, only a few minutes after the lights turned on. Then it got too dark after that. If there's anything to be pleased about, it was that the river - usually busy during the day with tourist cruises - was clear and traffic free and gave me a nice reflection.

Each sculpture begins with a blank sheet of paper and travels through a 35-step, 12-week process of casting in bronze, aluminum, or steel. Artist Kevin Box forges each sculpture by hand and completes the work with finishes that mimic the original paper's look. He developed an organic burnout process specifically for paper that captures all of its intimate details.
Almost walked through this puddle and remembered what my reflection master told me - be careful what you step in those are nice shoes....
